When the goalposts keep getting moved, you cannot negotiate in good faith. At this point, even Graham and other GOP are frustrated because the took the high road and negotiated in good faith to arrive at an acceptable solution only to be Giloolied by Trump.

By the same token, McConnell could easily have brought Graham-Durbin to the floor and put the issue at the feet of the President, but McConnell wasn't willing to do that either.

So no, at this point, regardless of the core issues, this all falls squarely on the GOP who control all three players in this and have a responsibility to be good actors in running our government.

The majority of Americans see through this and it will only make things worse as the GOP digs in.

Trump is a flip-flopper and should never be trusted or believed.

UMass accepts applications from undocumented students. They are treated as international students and so not receive in state tuition. DACA recipients who are also MA residents are treated like any other MA resident.

They have had the benefit of K-12 education, paid for by American taxpayers, and have been allowed to remain here thanks to our generosity. So how do they show their appreciation? No....I feel that we should not be punishing law-abiding workers by cutting off their paychecks. The fact that the D's are holding the government hostage over these DACA kids is shameful. They, and apparently you, have more sympathy for them than they do for the hundreds of thousands of employees who will have financial hardship as a result. Congress never presented Trump with a bill to sign. the gang of six represented only themselves, not a majority much less 60 votes in the Senate. All the Senate needs to do is get 60 votes to pass what passed in the House but Schumer picked the wrong hill to die on with this manufactured crisis. All trump needs to do is wait and schumer will have to cave. After all most of those furloughed bureaucrats are democrats. Schumer needs to cut a deal with McConnell that will get 60 and trump will sign it. Trump needs to do no heavy lifting on this at all. He can just wait until the dems cave. They will.

I have been feeling a little sorry for the DACA kids lately, but this latest ploy of the Dems makes me want Congress NOT to do anything to help them. Their little political maneuvering is backfiring on them.

But the media will posit this as the Rs fault. The fact is that there is nothing in the bill that D's disagree with. They just realized they could use the livelihoods of nearly 1 million innocent Americans (I'm not a fed, so not personally impacted) to squeeze out benefits for DACA kids. It's simply proving what people have been complaining about - that liberals care more about illegal immigrants than the welfare of American citizens.

Schumer completely miscalculated. You don't get concessions from Trump by attempting to publicly blame him as Schumer has done. All that will do is make Trump more resistant. What Schumer needed to do is make deals with ten Democrats and then work something out with McConnell. Once they had 60 votes Trump would be forced to sign. Schumer is unskilled and lazy and can't beat Trump at his own game. EVERYONE knows Schumer is trying to leverage the CR to get DACA passed. It's transparent, even CNN anchors have been questioning this strategy.
