You are a nice Jewish family living in Chevy Chase. You are originally from Westchester County NY, so really wanted to find an environment that supported a good thriving Jewish community. You met your husband Bruce who was from Rockville, but you didn't think Rockville was good enough, so you moved to Chevy Chase. Although Bruce is Jewish by birth, his family is pretty non-religious (although they do celebrate Passover and Hanukkah). You are now part of a conservative synagogue, but you do most of the observance for the house. You and the children keep kosher, but Bruce does not (not all the time, at least) and you have to fight to keep him honest about which sink and dishes he uses. But he tries hard. And he's a good father, when he helps out. Simon is named after your late father who ran a delicatessen in White Plains for many years. Elliott is your little tasmanian devil and you're not sure if you can handle him upcoming bar mitzvah. Maya is your little princess. Your latest fight is about whether to send Simon to New York for Yeshiva high school.

I am totally from NY, though not Westchester! DH is also from the NY area. I am Conservative and he isn't much of anything, and I do try to keep the home somewhat kosher-style, though not with separate sinks. He stopped sneaking in ham a long time ago. We have discussed Jewish Day School at length, but not fighting over it, probably just deciding against it for many reasons.

Haha...thanks. I put the Westchester because I have several friends from college who are originally from Westchester so it sounded right to me. Well, hope it at least entertained you. This thread has been fun.

Pretty please!!!

You really, really wanted to name one of them Jack, but DH insisted that's a dog's name. You live outside the Beltway - Gaithersburg? Or maybe Fairfax. Alex is in 3rd grade and is pretty smart. Nathan smart too but has ADHD and you're worried that maybe he was a little too young when he started kindergarten. You and DH both work fulltime - DH works for a govt contractor and you're a 5th grade teacher. You are allergic to cats and you like scrapbooking. You grew up in Manassas, went to college within a 3 hour radius of home and have no interest in leaving the DC area. You're close to your mom. DH played baseball in college and had minor league aspirations. You still wear yellow gold jewelry sometimes, even though no one else among your friends do. Fall is your favorite season.

You got married at 24 to your college boyfriend. You had Colin when you were 28, Alexandra when you were 30, and Haley when you were 33. You worked fulltime until Alexandra came along, and now you work part-time. You have a ton of other mom friends and have been to bazillions of Pampered Chef, 31 parties, etc. Both of your girls are tomboys. You and DH always wanted a big family, but now you're pretty sure you're going to stop at 3. Unless... you leave the area and return to upstate NY, where your family is located and where the cost of living is cheaper. But DH would have to make a pretty big career change for that.

Damn......some of it is so accurate that I am wondering if I outed myself and we know each other? I'm from NYC, not upstate NY, but BOTH OF MY GIRLS ARE TOTAL TOMBOYS. Big time. And I am inundated with invites to those damn parties.......

I"ll play

James and Julia (hint: not twins)

HHI = 300k+. (both mid-level big law associates, but you'll quit soon to SAH. In fact, you're just riding out your second paid maternity leave with Julia, who was born in late March.)

Damn Girl/guy. Still pregnant but you are right about HHI and riding out paid mat leave. I hate my boss.

You will enjoy staying at home for the first 14 months of Julia's life, especially once James starts half-day preschool this Fall. But shortly after Julia turns one you'll start to get a little antsy and start looking around for a federal job.

Na. James is in full preschool and we are going to nanny up for little J. Been a fed. Not going back.

I just want to say, whoever that paragraph writer is --is fabulous and funny. I am loving this entertaining thread.

You are my sister in law.

Also, you're a school teacher with a strong work ethic and compassionate heart. Your enjoy the simple things in life: homemade jam, good books, a fire in the fireplace during a snow storm. You've always wanted to have children, and now that you have them you couldn't be happier, although sometimes the craziness of little boys gives you a migraine. Neither you or your husband are particularly athletic, although your little guys are signed up for soccer and swimming. Your politics are liberal, but you're conservative by nature. Your marriage has stagnated a bit with the stress of children and dual careers but you and your husband are committed to each other and are both hopeful you'll rekindle the flame at some point. The boys are close in age and fight more than you would like.

You're a smart, serious woman who likes the occasional walk on the wild side. Maybe a little kinky (just a little!). Your husband is also smart. You're both kind of athletic.
