The Silver Spring location recently closed. It was never as good as the Rockville Pike spot.

soon after BDs closed I traveled to suburban Cincinnati and there, to our delight was a BDs Mongollian BBQ! But of course it just wasn’t as good.

Anyone remember Dunmore’s on Bethesda Ave ? More of a bar than a restaurant but I had a lot of great times there in the 80’s.

Bethesda in the 70’s and 80’s was vastly superior than the Bethesda of today.

So many good ones named already!
I’ll add Roy’s in Gaithersburg. I’d love one more Pocohontas!

Oh- and The Thai Room!

Thai Pilin. It was a small Thai restaurant in Tyson’s, near the old Tower Records. Best PadThai I’ve ever had.

Donutchew in Vienna just closed. Those mochi donuts were amazing.

Not surprised they closed though; they weren’t open early—and it’s a donut place. Also it was expensive.

I don’t remember anything else on the menu, but the Harry’s (and it had a different name before that I think) in Pentagon City had this amazing buckwheat bean burger. I still think of that burger sometimes. Of course now that I have fifteen years of cooking under my belt I can’t remember what it was that made it taste so amazing so I can’t try to recreate it. Maybe smoked paprika?
