| Imagine criticizing Muriel Bowser for being too supportive of transportation that doesn't involve cars. |
That $36 million is over six years, not per year, same with the Capital Bikeshare. Vision Zero is not 100 percent bike infrastructure, nor is the $39.1 million for pedestrian safety or the $32 million for intersections with safety concerns. And the Long Bridge connection is also a pedestrian walkway. Other than that, yes, this definitely adds up to a quarter-million dollars every year on bikes. |
Actually, the big money comes in the $3 billion in federal money for road construction/repair/etc. |
The bike people always claim those big projects are also for pedestrians, but no actual pedestrian has ever even heard of them and if they tried to use them, the cyclists would scream at them to get out of their way. |
Did you know the city pays a "bike ambassador" nearly $200,000 a year to teach the public about bikes? (because, you know, some people have never heard of a bike) |
Did you know that this isn't true, and has been disproven on threads about biking in DC multiple times? |
The fact is that WABA gets a huge taxpayer subsidy directly from the DC government, then to turn around and organize and lobby for bike lanes and other DDOT notions. Seems outrageous that taxpayer funds are being used to sell a plan that a significant numbers of residents and businesses don't want. |
I’m sorry you refuse to understand any of this no matter how many times it is explained to you. Perhaps you should visit your doctor to investigate the cause of your cognitive decline. |
Remember all this money is being spent on a tiny number of people. It would be cheaper for the taxpayer if the government bought every cyclist in the city a Porsche. If the city spent money on poor people like it spends it on cyclists, there would be no poverty in D.C. |
I’m kind of glad this nutcase/s keep these threads alive. The longer they go the more apparent it is that they are total cranks. |
Most of WABA's budget comes from the D.C. government. It's a Potemkin village. WABA would implode if not for government handouts. |
Uh, EVERYBODY uses these things and for those who don't you them, you are getting benefit because of the mitigation of people who would otherwise drive, ergo leaving more open road space and parking spaces for people like you. |
No it hasn't. The only thing that's been said is that that amount includes the cost of safety vests (for the half a dozen volunteers) and flyers they hand out. One of the bike ambassadors themselves posted and found out they weren't getting paid what the should under the contract. |
Oh you got us!! Massive corruption, DC paying to promote the twisted cause of BIKING!!!! zomg!!!! |
LOL |
