| I wear ballet flats spring/summer/fall...but they just don't cut it for me in winter with cold or slush around. So what do you wear instead? Somehow flats with socks just isn't the fashion statement i'm looking to make. I'm looking for the step (or three) above sneakers for the smart casual look. TIA for your suggestions. |
| Cute boots! |
| Yes, boots. |
| I've got the boots look down, but I don't want to wear boots every day. What else? |
| Those hardly qualify as a winter shoe that can be worn with socks. |
| I have some clog like shoes that are waterproof suede with a rubber sole that is a couple of inches. They are slim on but more pointy shaped then a true clog. I really like them this time of year for slipping on and giving some height with jeans. They were Bandalino, but many brands make something similar. Mine are chocolate brown. |

I love these. I prefer to wear them barefoot (and do, even in cold weather), but you can also wear them with socks.
http://www.zappos.com/keen-sienna-mary-jane-forest-night Sure, they have a bit of the comfort-shoe look about them, but they actually look cute with skinny jeans. And they are at least as comfortable as they look. |
They look awful. Where do you work? |
Aw, you sound like a peach. Never change. Not sure why where I work is relevant, since OP said she was looking for casual. But keep on sending those positive vibes! |
| why not wear boots to and from work, then slip on your flats when you get to your desk at work? |
I might have put it slightly more kindly, but those are some ugly shoes. And I like comfort-shoes. What's with the front of them? Maybe it's a bad picture, but...umm...yuck. Sorry. |
| Gucci loafers. Most comfortable shoes I own. |
Eh, to each her own. The front is very characteristic of Keens; that rubber toe seems to be a signature of sorts. There are days when I want to wear knee-high Frye boots and days when I want to wear the equivalent of slippers. On those days, nothing makes me happier than putting on these ugly shoes. |
| all these snarky comments got me intrigued, so i clicked on the link. they're definitely cuter in orange, purple, and every other color than the khaki/green shown in the default screen. |
