Starting a thread on this topic. I have done various means of weight loss over the years (low carb, calorie counting, IF, WW, etc) and been successful but ultimately gained the weight back over time. I have never been in the obese category but I am of the sort that always wanted to lose 5-10 vanity pounds in my 20s and post children it was more like 20+. I have been doing WW since last spring and was fairly successful but starting to lose motivation in September.
At that time, in response to a suggestion here, I tried the "Weight Loss for Busy Physicians" podcast. It is a life changing podcast for me. That said, there are a lot of life coach weight loss focused podcasts and apparently coaching going on, many of them interesting and instructional and adding to my thinking about eating. This weight loss/management/eating strategy involves digging into what feelings drive your actions (overeating) and the point is to change thikning to change habits and learn to eat based on hunger in a manner that will facilitate your desired goals. It does not knock any particular kind of eating but is focused increasing awareness of what we eat (logging in some form ) and on the big picture problems that contributes to unwanted weight gain, undoing learned habits and rethinking our feelings around food. I am finding it incredibly useful and interested in thoughts of others following this kind of plan and hearing about successes or failures. My current eating plan is a combination of tracking through the WW app, lean proteins, fruits and vegetables but with healthy fats being used daily and often a varient of IF seems to work with my hunger patterns - often have 14-16 hours between dinner and my first meal the next day. I was down 15 lbs on WW, gained back 5 with summer vacations, but since early September I am down 14 for a total of 24 pounds lost, I am in my mid 50s and 5'4". I am 5 pounds from what my initial goal was (143) but I have changed my goal so that I want to go down a total of 18 more pounds to 130 and see how that works for me. And I am seriously not going hungry, am enjoying this way of eating and feel very in control of my eating and health. I also have two daughters and believe this is really good in terms of role modeling healthy eating habits. |
| I am also listening and have lost 5 lbs. |

I am listening to the same podcast based on a recommendation here. It has been incredibly helpful (though the episodes start to get a little repetitive and "off topic" as they go along). One month ago, I started a "protocol" of IF (eating between 12:00 and 8:00), I cut out flour, and sleeping at least seven hours per night. Nothing more than that. I have lost six pounds. |

I will follow this thread too. Op and I have a lot in common.
I just started listening to this podcast too. I have a good baseline diet but too many extras creep in such as food brought into the office, eating out, stress eating during a bad day. There is definitely a link to being tired, stressed etc. Good luck to us all |
