The Watchmen on HBO

I just watched the first episode and really loved it. The cast is excellent. I did not read the comic book or see the movie. Anyone else seen it?

I saw it and really liked it also. And I don’t usually enjoy comic book stuff. My husband LOVED it and is all psyched to have a new show. Regina King was great. And I remembered for the first time in 30 years that Don Johnson released an album.

I watched last Sunday and came here to see if anybody was talking about it. Yes! It seems like a great show and I am looking forward to the next episode.

I’m a fan of the book, as is DH, and we absolutely loved this take on it. It’s a logical continuation of what happens in the book, with so many awesome Easter eggs thrown in. Plus, the acting and design are terrific.

Very much looking forward to more.

I found it really confusing.

Not surprising since the exec producer was one of the main guys in charge of Lost.

Lost was starting from nothing though and Watchmen had a background. I felt like I had to google a lot like Nixon, Robert Redford (Redfordations), bad versus good guys, blacks vs whites etc.

It was really confusing and really violent. I think I'll give the second episode a try to see if it improves, but it was not a very good start.

Glad to see that people are learning about the Tulsa massacre in 1921 from the series. I don't think it's common knowledge. Regina King is wonderful in it. To be honest, I've always liked her as an actress but I never thought she was a brilliant as people think - but she's *really* good in this!

I am wondering about how the producers will eventually handle the repressive aspects of the police. They remind me of brutal law enforcement in some Central American countries where the police are more of a gang than a formal institution governed by the rule of law. It will be interesting to see how that plays out.

I loved it! Considering I hated the movie, that was a pleasant surprise. My 13 year old will sit this one out.

for me it was both confusing and boring, so im going to pass on the rest of the series.

we learned about the tulsa slaughter at my crappy exurban va high school in the 90s, so i would think most people have heard of it?

I was today days old when I learned people other than Swifties use the term Easter eggs this way.

Hardly.

And I've never seen it depicted to a national audience ever. Good on HBO for this.
