Why the venom on Teslas? Is Tesla a douchey car brand like BMW?

I wouldn't key one, but someone recently bought a house near us, and parks their Tesla on the street and I can't help but wonder why someone with that much money to spend on a car (and knowing what they paid for the house) would want to live here. I admittedly judge them and I think they are clueless and stupid. If I had that kind of money I'd make very different choices.

I don’t think this is a thing, OP. We have a Tesla (the cheap one) and have never had any issues and I’ve never heard that from other Tesla owners.

Also, how juvenile is it to key someone’s car? I just can’t imagine what person over the age of 14 gets a thrill off random property destruction. If you wanna fight the power and go full on Luddite sabotage, at least I’d get that, but it wouldn’t make sense to start with Tesla’s.

I feel it is pure jealousy. Teslas are perceived to be more $$$ than other hybrids so people are more angry that others have the extra cash to spend on these vehicles.

I drive a Hyundai and have no animosity towards any other cars. If you want to spend money on a BMW or Mercedes or Tesla, that's perfectly fine. You do you.

I don't get people who would actually break a law and harm someone else's property, who they presumably do not know, just because they don't like the purchase that the owner made. Makes no sense.
