Does anyone know much about her situation? Has she always lived in this location?
|
She showed up sometime this summer. I think there’s a guy with her as well. |
That’s a different homeless lady. You’re talking about the homeless lady living on the island on 11th and Rhode Island. She’s living in a tent with a man. OP is talking about the homeless lady with a pile of her belongings on the corner of 10th. She’s been there far longer than just this summer. She’s harmless and doesn’t bother the children. But I am worried about the homeless population around Shaw, especially since it’s getting colder. There’s also the man by Shaw library with a huge pile of belongings. |
Op here. Yes, she’s by the playground on 10th. The weather is going to be so cold soon. She doesn’t appear to have a tent or other shelter. |
The hypothermia van will likely pick her up and take her to a shelter when the temperature drops at or below freezing. |
| If you are worried about someone sleeping outside in cold temperatures, call 202-399-7093. It’s the hypothermia hotline, a number I save in my phone. They’ll dispatch a van to at-risk homeless people to offer transport to shelter. If the individual refuses, he or she will be offered blankets. |
| They should not have sold DC general to developers. Could gave been transformed into a really nice shelter/hospital for mentally ill homeless. DC prefers to use bus stops and libraries for some reason. |
| So Seaton is one of the "good" DC elementary schools? |
| DCs willingness to have folks live on the sidewalk in distress is an embarrassment. this is a mental health emergency. |

Popville just received a story on this lady. https://www.popville.com/2020/01/dc-homelessness-help/
How does the school still allow this? |
Ding ding ding ding!! |
They should hire some henchmen..... er, I mean homeless advocates.... to move her to a more comfortable location. Like some elementary school in NE where the poors kid's go to school. She'll be safer there. |
If dc cares about the homeless they would pass laws to commit and treat resident homeless who need help, shelter those that are simply transitional, and give one way bus tickets home to recent arrivals. |
Except DC progressives think of the homeless, the bums, and the druggies as their pets. Simple minded creatures who have to be cared for yet allowed to live a free range lifestyle. |
