Parent Teacher Conference Hours

What are the hours for your school? Why do they vary so widely?

I hate parent teacher conferences. I just hate them. I feel like I waste my time or it’s a meeting to schedule another, longer meeting later.

Whenever the teacher can schedule them within a two week period. So there are usually a few slots before school and a few slots after school daily for a week or two.

My daughter’s high school is 12-7. Elementary is regular school hours which makes sense. I likely won’t attend my daughter’s because I’ll be at work. Email works fine too.

My ES is 12-7. Those are the hours DCPS set (I am a teacher, these were the hours we were told.)

All day on 11/11, when kids and many parents are off. Otherwise by request when convenient for both parties.

What parents are off 11/11? It’s not a holiday.

Veteran's day. It's a federal holiday. Not all parents, but many. Husband and I are off.

To say that "many" are off is a stretch. If you work for the government, sure. But most do not. Our elementary school is 12-7.

We had ours on Saturday. 85 percent of families participated.

What school has them on 11/11?

Every employer I've had in the last 15 years has followed the government for paid holidays. So not everyone, but more than government employees.
