The bill allowing gay marriage has just passed its second vote in the DC Council and is now on its way to the Mayor (who will sign it). After that, Congress gets its review, but I wouldn't expect any problems on the Hill. So, congratulations to all the gay couples who will soon be able to get married.
Boo to Barry and Alexander who voted "no". Yay to Harry Thomas Jr. who showed extremely rare political courage (rare for politicians, not necessarily for him). |
OMG, I can already feel the threat to my hetero-marriage! ![]() |
WOO HOO!!! This is a great day and I'm proud to be a DC resident!!!!!
Now my daughter can marry whomever she wants. |
No she can't! My DD wants to marry her little brother! |
The right wingers warned us this was next. Soon to be followed by man/dog marriages. |
Yeah, just like the floodgates that opened after Loving vs. Virginia! All hell broke loose! Ha ha ha! ![]() |
I am really proud of DC! |
I am so happy about this ![]() |
Hurrah! |
I am very proud of the Council too.
And let this put to rest the wicked perception that all African-Americans are against gay marriage. |
Or that Fenty can't do ANYTHING right. |
You're right. I will give him that! |
Finally! A lot of people can't see past why they dislike him. I think that is very generous of you to acknowledge that, as this is a very big deal. |
Yay. Seriously, yay. |
I hate to see everyone agreeing; what kind of discussion is that? But darn it, I'm so thrilled I can't even bring myself to say nasty things about Alexander and Barry.
BTW, does Mendelson's shepherding this through the Judiciary Committee cement his ratings in the gay community enough to shield him against Clark Ray? |
