Gay Marriage Passes DC Council

The bill allowing gay marriage has just passed its second vote in the DC Council and is now on its way to the Mayor (who will sign it). After that, Congress gets its review, but I wouldn't expect any problems on the Hill. So, congratulations to all the gay couples who will soon be able to get married.

Boo to Barry and Alexander who voted "no". Yay to Harry Thomas Jr. who showed extremely rare political courage (rare for politicians, not necessarily for him).

I hate to see everyone agreeing; what kind of discussion is that? But darn it, I'm so thrilled I can't even bring myself to say nasty things about Alexander and Barry.

BTW, does Mendelson's shepherding this through the Judiciary Committee cement his ratings in the gay community enough to shield him against Clark Ray?
