My online negotiation: my 2 cents, and your opinion

So wife and I are looking for a mid-size SUV, and we test drove everything we (and by "we" I mean "she") liked. We settled on a Honda Passport (newly reintroduced). She really liked the Volvo XC60 too, but initially ruled it out because its not as practical for us. But reached out to dealers about the volvo anyway because I'd read there's more of a margin on luxury-ish brands than the hondas and toyotas of the world, so you can negotiate steeper discounts. I definitely found that to be true: getting honda dealers to come off their numbers was like pulling teeth--it was real haggling for every nickel and dime. The Volvo dealers were slow, often not replaying for a day or two, and then they would go right to a pretty fair number. I also learned quickly that its pointless to negotiate the price of the car--go straight to the "out the door" number. Also, I should mention I'm in a suburb of NYC in CT. One number that always inflated the OTD number is the "dealer doc" processing fee, which was often $400-$500. In NY, that price is capped at $75, which is great! (In fact, I think im buying from a NY dealership) So definitely check that number in your surrounding states.
Now, DCUMers, I'd like your opinion. Im nearing the end of my 2 week online negotiating, and here's what I've got: 2019 Volvo XC60, AWD T5, Inscription trim level: OTD $46,000 2019 Honda Passport, AWD Touring trim level: OTD $39,200 Which one is a better deal? Which would you take? |

These are “OTD” prices, meaning all taxes, fees, etc are included.
