I have a 2014 Prius and a 2012 Lexus 350. My husband has had to quit his job due to health. I have gone back to work. I am trying to see where I can save while not reducing overall coverage. Can you please share your numbers and rationale if possible. Will be appreciated.
I have Insured and Uninsured Bodily Injury both at 300K Limit. Not thinking of reducing it. I am thinking of reducing Insured and Uninsured Property Damage Liability to 50k from 100k My collision and comprehensive deductibles were $500 each but thinking of upping to $750 or $1000. Thoughts? I don't have any coverage for Medical Expense Payments or Loss of Income or Transportation Expense. Should I? Do have Emergency Road Assistance though never used it in 20 yrs. It's about $40 total for both cars annually. |
| Sorry about the health situation. Don't know anyone who does such high deductibles. Typically it's $500. All else looks OK to me. |
| Your coverage looks good to me. You might save a hundred bucks here or there by tinkering with the coverage, but a more productive exercise would be to see if you still really need two cars. |
| I just saved almost 1000 by switching insurance companies. If you haven't switched in a long time, I bet you can get a much cheaper rate. I switched from Liberty Mutual to Allstate. |

OP. Thanks to all PPs. The Lexus was a gift (it's used) and my husband will need a car for his appointments.
I am looking for input on the deductible amounts and the secondary items. |
| Have you considered different insurance companies rather than dropping coverages? |
| OP, thanks I had done that 5 yrs ago and decided to stick but will go through the process again. |
Do you have a decent enough savings that you could cover a $1,000 deductible? |
