VDA ECNL question

Anonymous
Have a 2008 DD who may try out for VDA ECNL next year. Question for parents of the 2007/2006 groups. At U13 age group where did the kids come from? Can you comment on which clubs most of the current players were trained in the U9-U12 ages?

Next years team will be all PWSI and VSA. Both are strong 2008 teams and there will be many that don't make VDA showing up at BRYC and Loudoun.

Doesn’t matter just make sure you go to HP ELITE and let Quan know and only then you will have a shot at making VDA..

please let him know you plan on doing more HP training through out the year I shouldn’t be giving out these secrets for free but you seem like a good person

2007 has players from VSA, PWSI, Winchester, Stafford, Richmond Strikers, Loudoun, FCV, Gunston, Vienna, NVSC. Our experience has been great and DD have interacted with most of the coaches. Don’t worry about HP or any of these whackos on this board.

2006 is mostly PWSI. They 2006 PWSI team were state champs so the core of that team is with VDA now. There are players from PWSI, VSA, CYA, FFC, Gunston, NVSC, and WSVA.

What a stupid ass remark! VDA has issues as all clubs do but they don't pick kids based on HP elite and attending that program. Jesus! get a life!

That team is very good and Tim the coach that coached last year took that team to the next level! they have Scott now and he is very good as well. Cant go wrong if that's the team you are going with.

If you are looking at putting your child at VDA I think you can rest assure it is a great program at the younger levels. VDA will be the club to be at in the near future and you will be able to compete at the highest of levels. from u14 and down its a no brainer. Honestly don't focus on where the kids have come from because as that team wins kids will be begging to get on the team. Good luck!

In the spring if you wanted to get a feel for some of the girls would you recommend asking to attend a PWSI practice? Do a majority of the players come from this club? Are most of the VDA coaches former PWSI coaches?

you guys can correct me if I'm wrong but I think the reason VDA is starting to have success is because they are far from most of the other ECNL and DA teams. They are able to consolidate talent because unless you are willing to drive far away 4 days a week it's your only real option. If you live in Fairfax you have McLean, BRYC, Metro United and even Bethesda, Arlington, Loudoun and FCV aren't too far away depending on where in Fairfax you live. VDA is a serious haul though

Coaches are from PWSI and VSA. Some of them still have a team at their home club. We contacted the club and DD was invited to train with the older vda teams already in place. I’ve also heard of kids going to PWSI and VSA practices depending on which is closer for them for an evaluation by the VDA coaches.

I think the main reason is they have 2 legitimate feeder clubs as a pipeline with PWSI and VSA. Your point on location is a good one though.

They are starting to have success in the younger age groups. The 06 team will presumably stay pretty strong even if they lose a few starters in years to come. Hopefully people will overlook that their older teams are weak (why?)

Why would a team that strong lose starters? To who?
