I don't underestand the praise for Fleabag

Watched the first two episodes of season 1...got nothing from it. All the characters seemed like a-holes of one form or another and most of the dialog was crude, I'm fine with crude humor but I just didn't see what was funny about it. What am I missing?

I find it hysterical. But also uncomfortable to watch. But also strangely compelling?

I do think the narrator is funny.

It didn't really click with me until 3-4 episodes in and I definitely liked the second season more than the first. If it doesn't work for you, don't watch it. You don't have to like something just because a lot of other people like it.

The second season is so much better than the first! I recommend skipping the first season entirely.

OP, I agree, I really wanted to like it, but yeah, no.

I found I was sort of oddly intrigued the first season. There were some laugh out loud " I can not believe she said that" type of moments, but it was mainly a little uncomfortable. At the end of the 1st season I thought it was just really sad and sort of depressing.

AND THEN: the 1st episode of the 2nd season is the best thing ever. It's so good. And yes, like others said, the 2nd season is just perfect.

The episodes are short so it's not a huge time commitment. And I found it to be a talking piece, so I recommend it to everyone.

I was hooked by how real/vulnerable/horrible the characters were.

So funny. And so hot!

NP. So you don't have to watch the first season to understand what is going on in the second season?

It took me a few episodes to get into it--the characters seem very unlikable in the beginning. But as the story unfolds, I was completely hooked.

I love it but I think it's a think where you either love it or hate it. It's also possibly generational - my parents and their friends don't like it at all.

I loved it from the very first second. Maybe it's just not for you?

I love it.

I agree with this assessment, and also that season 2 was way better than season 1.

Nope, the first episode gives you all the background you need, which isn’t much.

It's really well done but I'm so over people continuing to make bad decisions. Which is why I stopped watching Girls and Insecure. What good is "funny" if people continue to screw up their own lives?

I will say that the end of season two is kind of sad. People don't get better but you end up feeling for them nevertheless. And you have compassion for people who keep trying and trying but don't get where they want.
