Where to go apple picking with grandparents next weekend?

We live in Northern VA but can travel. We went to homestead farms 2 years ago and had a good experience. Should we go back there or any better places?

Go anywhere!

Homestead Farm charges admission now but it’s one of our favorites.

Butlers Orchard is also nice but it tends to get more crowded especially when they have a fall festival.

Also, I’m sure there are lots of farms in Virginia that are closer to you and just as nice.

Oh for the love of God with the apple picking. "Hey kids, let's go pay to do the work of underpaid migrant workers. It'll be fun!" I will never understand this.

Wow. Hate much? Apple picking is fun for kids and adults.

Most of these orchards have apple varieties that you can’t find in stores. But you just go ahead and enjoy your red delicious apples.

We like Great Country Farms.

It’s so contrived. “Omg I need to get the perfect fall Instagram pic”

The idea that some people are obsessed with Instagram so no one should ever go on vacation or do something fun is more than a little bizarre.

Some of us went apple picking as kids and like to go with our kids.

Oh for the love of God. Another nasty person trolling the forum looking to hate something. The headline asked a question. Why did you even open the post? Especially when you even admit you don't understand. No one asked your opinion.

Since you seem to have a lot of opinions, what family friendly activities do you do with your kids?

http://www.hartlandorchard.com - really beautiful setting, additional activities for kids like a hayride and pumpkin patch. This is our go-to spot every year. We've never ended up with great apples but hardly matters. GO EARLY if you're going on the weekend. Past about 11 a.m. it starts to look like the closing scene of Field of Dreams.

I also like Great Country Farms but it will also be crowded, and admission is expensive. There is a huge play area, a maze, etc. You can make more of a day of it.

Markham VA, Hartland Orchards on the right side of 66, Stribling's on the left, so you have a couple options off the same exit.

Stribling orchard. It carried many varieties and it's admission free. They also have a stick for you to pick the apples.
