VYSA State Cup Brackets

Anonymous
Looking at the state cup brackets (available here: https://www.vysa.com/Default.aspx?tabid=2519875) and I see that several clubs have multiple teams competing for the state cup in some of the brackets on the boys' side.

Can anyone familiar with the background on this share the thought process that led to clubs having two or three teams in the bracket?

Thanks,

Are those game dates in red?

If so, apparently my son’s team has a today but we ha e a league game and nobody on our team is aware. I did not know the team was even playing in it.

State Cup takes precedent. Your league game should’ve been rescheduled automatically

Thanks! They changed the game to a "Buy'. I must have been on the website before it was updated.

SYC probably over promised parents that their kid was on the top team and then ended up with too many on top roster. Probably breaking up top team into two and back filling with B team players so that everyone feels like they have a shot at the title.

I’m just trying to help someone out who had a legitimate question about a possible schedule conflict. If you don’t care, then remove the needle from your urethra, and don’t post.

It's a competition and kids work hard to compete....they may not be in DA or ECNL and that's ok. They may not be destined for College, and that's ok. How about they work hard and this is a venue they can showcase their hard work. Pricks like you is what is wrong with youth sports. Nothing is good enough for you folks.

Good luck to all the teams and families competing.

Two of the seven teams at boys U18 are from the same club, which isn't that surprising considering it makes more sense to jump to U19 at that point.

Also interesting that every other age group has exactly 16 teams, which surely means that some teams applied and didn't get in. Past years have included some awkward play-in games. PAC is one of the clubs with no teams participating here.

What do you mean 'club playing out of"? Do you mean they are playing State Cup games at fields not near their Club or that their team has a name that does not match where the Club actually operates/headquarters?

No -- just how they're listed on the State Cup site. Surely a bunch of clerical errors.

It’s based on the Coach information, wherever the coach lives is what shows up as the team location regardless of club location.
