Anyone willing to share their baby shower registry or list of must-haves for new moms?

First time mom, here! I’m totally overwhelmed by all of the options and I would love to get a sense of what others have on their lists.

I have the following take on my search for our baby boy due in December:

So many opinions! So many reviews! Such little space/storage in our row house....

Thanks in advance!

I am feeling the same way! Due in Jan. babylist will create a sample registry if you’d like!

Most helpful advice I got:
Buy a *good* stroller (doesn't matter if you get it used), then get car seat adapters to put whatever brand car seat you want on top of that stroller. The strollers that are sold as "travel systems" with infant car seats are pretty much total crap.

Also, register for books so that you don't end up with 9 copies of Goodnight Moon.

Read Lucie’s list and sign up for her emails.

Here are the things I got when I had a baby in a small space:

A cosleeper to keep the baby close to me at night (Arm’s Reach, not the mini one)
Infant car seat + snap and go stroller
Ktan carrier
Single row dresser with a changing pad on top
20 ish outfits in 0-3 months
5 outfits in newborn (my baby was 8 pounds and fit in newborn clothes for about a month when the 0-3 were huge on her)
5 sleepers in 0-3 months
1 baby towel with hood
5 baby wash cloths
5 muslin swaddle blankets
5 flannel receiving blankets
1 breast pump
1 extra set of parts
1 set of bottles
Glider and ottoman

Things I got later:

Crib from Ikea
Umbrella stroller
Ergo

Things I did not get and did not need:

Separate changing table
Special diaper bag
Bottle stuff beyond the above
Wipe warmer
Multiple strollers at the same time
Multiple carriers at the same time
Baby bath tub

We ended up buying more clothing and toys and books as needed. There are a lot of things that you just don’t need. Don’t overthink it.

I just had my fourth kid last year. I wish I’d sprung for an amazing stroller and glider from the get go. I used a baby carrier (I’m partial to Tulas) all the time. Go with the Spectra pump. Get a white noise machine. Not sure of anything else that is super critical

My favorite products:

Hatch white noise/nightlight
Boppy infant lounger
Ergo 360 with infant insert

I always buy new mom friends a six-foot phone charger too. Good for using in hospital, when nursing and when naptrapped.

OP, I’m in a similar situation (FTM in December). So far, these posts have been incredibly helpful! I was wondering if anyone has insight into the swing vs. bouncer (or both) debacle. TIA!

I absolutely loved my travel system stroller. Used it every single day of my maternity leave once I was able to walk. Passed it on to my sister and she also uses it frequently.

OP, check out Lucie's List. I used her recommendations to create my registry!

Just a couple things:

Ergo 360 with infant insert. GREAT carrier.

Woombie swaddle -- seriously a lifesaver. It's basically a zip-up potato sack, so your infant won't be able to wiggle out of it and then wake up in the middle of the night. You won't be dealing with annoying folding patterns or velcro. Just get it and stick it in your hospital bag.

IMO this is too many clothes, blankets, and washcloths, and idk how PP bathed get child because for us a baby tub was a necessity, but otherwise I agree with this list. Also look into the hatch white noise machine which will later function as an ok to wake clock.

No strong opinion, but I would get something that you can easily move from room to room, rather than something huge that stays in once place.

Mom of 4. It depends on the kid, but if I had to choose I’d probably go with the swing since it can be a lifesaver for a baby who won’t nap. We have both and different kids have liked one vs the other. My 4 month old adores the bouncer for playing (he spends 20+ minutes in there at a time just bouncing and kicking) and has also taken a lot of naps in the swing. My others didn’t love the bouncer.

Sleeping: currently using the Halo bassinest and it’s working great, some swaddles and footed pjs
Diaper changes: changing table on top of the dresser, diapers, wipes and butt cream (I like baby aquaphor)
Getting out: infant seat and stroller with adapter, carrier (Ktan is good for newborn, after that I love my ergo), a tote bag for a diaper bag
Bathing: puj tub for the early days, a munchkin soft bucket for pouring water, baby soap/shampoo (I like Mustela best)
Feeding (if breastfeeding): Spectra pump, Haakaa pump (this changed my world - the early days of engagement were no big deal with one of these), nursing bras, nursing pads, bottle brush, bottle & nipples (whatever you want - I’m using Kiinde this time around and like it a lot), feeding pillow, a lot of burp cloths
Places to put baby: swing, bouncer, and/or pack and play, a play mat, a mobile
