Bethesda Tournament vs McLean Tournament

Anonymous
Has your team or even club decided is they are going to do the McLean instead of the Bethesda tournament this year? Lots of people were saying that their teams were done with Bethesda but I'm wondering if teams will actually do it and enter the McLean instead. We are debating what tournament our boys should do.

at some point mclean will post "applied teams" on the tournament website

wouldn't be surprised if arlington sent all their younger teams to mclean's tournament instead of Muldoon's farm. 20 minute drive vs. 1 hour drive...

BSC Tournament will not be held at Muldoon. It will be at Soccerplex.

does the soccerplex have 9 additional small-sided fields to use?

good for them if BSC was able to find more fields to use besides muldoon's. They should have thought of that long ago.

I'd like to think many/most McLean teams (U12 and younger, at least) would be staying home as well. They are also guaranteeing turf fields, which should mean something in November.

Yes, McLean tournament had quality turf fields last year.

bethesda cup is over 3 weekends now, not just one. Girls Showcase (u14 and up), boys showcase (u14 and up) and boys/girls weekend (u9-u13)

Fields wont be an issue now

And they are finally moving away from mudoon. At least for regular season, home games are at Bretton Woods

BSC is completely done with Muldoon, for regular season and Tournaments.

Yeah, I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that McLean gets decimated every year at the BSC tournament.

This may be the case of good changes coming a little too late. After last year's experience, many clubs are completely done with BSC tournament.

A lot of the biggest VA Clubs do when they have to play MD teams, just like this past weekend. Their regular season is against weak teams so they have false sense of superiority until they step outside their box.

What do you think the leading factor is for this? Just a soft northern VA culture? Something else?

Clubs managers are cowards. They will all be chasing those GotSoccer points of the Bethesda Tournament over the McLean tournament.
