Bethesda Tournament vs McLean Tournament

I get that Soccerplex is preferable to Muldoons and the rest of the horse fields. But Soccerplex has just 3 turf fields, and they tend to be pretty protective of their grass fields. With the 3 high school fields (Wooten, Montgomery, Walter Johnson) added in, that's 6 turf fields. Pity that they cant get more turf fields in case of weather.

Aren’t many turf fields in MOCO. MSI has priority at Whitman, Einstein and Julius West turf fields as they paid for its construction.

Remember with last years debacle, they had games in Alexandria? Maybe they are going to treat it like Jeff Cup and use all the fields around the area. Would be really cool if they had the finals on the Mall.

With ffx based clubs having priority over many of the close in turf fields in VA (and a va tournament that same weekend) its unlikely they get much access... maybe DC fields as an option...but how many are there really in downtown that would be viable?

No reason to limit locations to just MD. VA and DC has fields also. They should use them.

Bethesda tournament is a joke

They're not "working the PR spin", they're making changes after their errors from last year.
They screwed up badly, and to their credit, they admitted it, and tried to fix it.

People are never happy. If they do nothing, they get criticized. If they try to correct mistake last year, you say it’s a PR spin or call it a joke.

They are giving a $150 discount to any team that were affected by last year’s weather/field problems. I don’t know if our team/coach will select this tournament but I’m fine with it this year since they are doing it at SoccerPlex. Remember, we repeatedly had weeks of torrential rain last year.

Good organizations would have a plan B for whatever happened with the weather. Which, by the way should be a consideration for any outdoor event. The problem is using Muldoons under any circumstances. Even if the weather was not a factor, Muldoons is a miserable place with bad fields in the middle of nowhere. For an organization just starting a little mid consideration could be possible but Bethesda has been playing there for years.

Bethesda isn't using Muldoon's for anything anymore.

Theyre also stretching it out over 3 weekends, not just one. Chillax.

Took them almost 20 years to make the switch out of muldoon's... too little too late?

Not many people complained in the years past. It was only this last year’s endless weekend rains that cause countless issues. A PP mentioned earlier that BSC should have had a Plan B in place. How are you going to find available turf fields? They are all leased by other clubs and there are only a handful of turf fields anyhow. And all MoCo grass fields were closed due to wet conditions too. This is the reason why they split up this tournament into 3 weeks.

For this year, we will see how many teams sign up in 15-30 days. No point arguing about it.

BSC has been using Muldoon for “almost 20 years” and it’s still one of the most well attended and successful tournaments in the area. The only gripe was last year due to the countless weekend rainstorms. So now they will be using turf fields spread over 3 separate weekends and will also pay for insurance. Based upon the issues, they made a switch and people are still complaining?? Wow.
