You phrased this so well. That's exactly what they are doing, and it's awful. You can always see them coming, but many OPs are quick to provide clarification because they are focused on getting help with something and don't realize they are being set up. It really derails conversation.

There is such a divide on this board between people who come here to share information in a mutually helpful way and the people who clearly use it as an outlet for their emotional problems. It's a shame there's no way to filter people out for this.

Agree - the best skill on DCUM is to spot these people and ignore/disengage.

+1 Me, too. It certainly came out not only in her OP but in her subsequent responses to other posters. The OP of that thread, who is the first quote above, is not a nice person. At all. I also feel very badly for her sister.

Depends. There was a poster recently participating in two threads insisting that it was illegal that adults cannot be in playgrounds unless with a child. Kept insisting it was true and was derailing to both thread since there is no such law in DC/MD/VA. When you’re speaking to a majority DC-area audience and want to bring up a law from Wisconsin, then say “in Wisconsin...”.

I used to think that until I tried Whole 30.

I don’t completely avoid that stuff now but I have cut out 90% of it. It’s not that hard.
