A shot rings out, but with officers surrounding the man, it's not clear from where the shot came. Multiple officers backed off of Pretti after the shot. More shots are heard. Officers back away and Pretti lies motionless on the street.

The officer who shot Pretti is an 8-year veteran of the U.S. Border Patrol, federal officials said.

No, it's not about training, except possibly for the fact that ICE/CBP have probably never been trained AT ALL in interacting with the general civilian population.

Ice were doing what they were trained to do. Harass and intimidate and if necessary, kill.

This killing was very, VERY far from necessary.

They “won”absolutely nothing in the last government shut down and now want to repeat the same strategy. The ironic thing is shutting down the government won’t impact ICE - they have $75 billion in funds from the reconciliation bill. They are going to harm TSA, FEMA and all sorts of other essential workers.

No, they want the DHS spending bill separated. DHS includes FEMA, TSA, etc. it’s going to affect a lot of law enforcement operations. But, ironically, not ICE because they already have billions of dollars from the OBBB.

The problem with blocking DHS funding is that it's tied to funding for a lot of other funding, so they can't vote on it separately. The other issue is that this White House doesn't care about funding the government. It simply moves funding around for the things it wants to fund and that allows Trump to amass even more power.
