If you stay with capital you are part of a different experiment of how long a club can survive on reputation alone, without adapting with the changing game. You won’t have the luxury of seeing the 27s and 28s recruiting before you make your decision, but you might be wise to look at how many capital girls actually play in college vs attend and are part of the team. It may not matter to you, but it is a statistic worth looking into. You also might want to consider how much your family is relying on any money. Capital finds most of their girls homes, but that may not come with much or any financial assistance.

So take a gamble with the upstart? I just don’t see how the best case scenario with M&D DC could possibly exceed Capital, yet there is enormous downside risk. What am I missing? Someone make a good argument fast because I’m pretty much out too. And no f’ing way I am going to share that with anyone except a few who I trust and want to stay with. This is very much an every man for him/herself situation.

I would hardly call any organization associated with the number one club in the country an "Upstart". I would trust a talented team under their umbrella. The M&D logo on a jersey goes a long way. And they are promoting all of their clubs. They promote Orlando and they even had the M&D DC over M&D black win on their instagram page.
Shhh. They want to go where their DD can watch their team score 4 goals a game and see whether top schools will drool over that and chalk it up to "another off day".

What adaptations are you suggesting they make? Outside of the lack of social media I am not sure what they need to do better?

For a start, how about preparing girls to actually play in college instead of sitting on the bench. The marketing of the commits versus what players actually do in college is a huge gap with the Capital model right now. The same can't be said for the other big clubs like YJ, CT, MD.

So Capital may help my daughter get into a top-10 academic school? She might be able to go to Princeton, but not play much? I'm in! Give me the pen!

You are aware Princeton (and every other ivy) gives ZERO money for athletics or academics. Only need based money, which 99% of people who can afford 7 years of paying for club lacrosse, will not qualify for.

I can see 2 total commits from M&D Orlando in the 2026 grad years to the following schools:

Gardner-Webb
Mt. St. Mary's

After reviewing this list it is not clear to me the jersey logo and Instagram promoting are working effectively.

There's a huge difference in talent. 2029 M&D DC will get looks because they are playing great as a team AND they have great individual talent. Schools are recruiting the athletes not the club. 2029 M&D DC will have the opportunity to play in the top brackets, where they belong, to showcase great team and individual talent. That's the difference. They're proving that now. Universities are always looking for the best individual talent while scouting the best teams. Right now they have it all to keep showcasing their abilities at the highest level.

A jersey logo on a top 10 talented team is the main difference you are missing. M&D Orlando does NOT have the talent of M&D DC. Pretty respectable that they have those commits considering they
Are ranked 20 spots lower than capital orange. A jersey alone does not make for a successful recruiting experience (which capital will find out in the coming years) you need talent as well, which M&D DC has.

Capital’s recruiting efforts go way deeper than a logo on a jersey.

5 years ago maybe. But go ahead and trust the process.

What do you mean 5 years ago? This years 2026 recruiting class is pretty impressive. I don’t really care because my daughter doesn’t plan to try out for capital or md dc but what is the decline people talk about, the latest data set proves they’re still successful.

Trust me, in the future Capital will be bad at recruiting and M&D DC will be super good. Don't ask too many questions.

I’ll believe you when I see it. Until then, Capital is still the best recruiting program in this area.

right ....but in high school teams blow up in the DMV. So that elite group will no longer all be together.
