It's never "good news" to have your child facing jail time.

Oh please. He'll spend time in a resort if any at time at all. Let's not kid ourselves.

You're about to see "white privilege" in action.

Americans should be subjected to drug testing because Hunter got convicted. Losing your rights because the president’s son faced consequences makes absolutely perfect sense. Maybe all Americans should have to turn their laptops over to the FBI so they can analyze the hard drives for evidence of drug use?

You aren't losing any rights if you aren't doing drugs.

You have the right to a warrant for searches.

Democrats only defend Hunter Biden’s right to own a gun. His crack addiction is perfectly fine to them.

Democrats understand that addiction is a medical issue and not a character flaw. We know that most families love someone with addiction and wish with all their might they could help them overcome it. We believe in loving our children regardless of their challenges and supporting them through difficult times.

Who doesn’t agree with that? It’s just we also don’t think drug addicts should have a gun.

Lots of posters here have insulted and criticized hunter for being addicted and Biden for supporting his son.

Enabled and manipulated, yes. Supporting? No way.

+1 Truly. Any family who has loved ones who struggle with addiction gets it.

+1

They have been through so much loss and tragedy and now addiction and this. So sad. This hug is so moving.

Too bad Joe raised such a derelict. Guy is awful.

Get back to us when your wife and child are killed on a car accident and one of your two surviving sons dies of cancer in his 40s.

Hate his policies all you want but your completely illogical criticism say much more about you than him.

“Child” - he’s a 58 y/o loser who has preyed on woman and anyone else he could use to serve his ends. Eff him.

What does the wife and child dying in a car accident have to do with Joe raising a complete POS son?

Trauma is real my friend. I’m sorry you were raised to be completely devoid of compassion. Your parents really failed.

What is the difference between count 1 (false statement relating to drugs) and count 2 (false statement regarding information the dealer is supposed to keep)?

Also, I am curious about how jurors deliberate. To what extent do they discuss the evidence and testimony in favor of each side? Do they review transcripts? Or is it more that they absorb this information during the trial and pretty much go with where their instincts lead them based on the trial proceedings? I sometimes go on Marcy Wheeler's site (emptywheel.net) and she has this ability to keep track of mind-boggling detail in events that are happening, and she identified tons of stuff that would raise questions, but I feel that no lawyer would make a point of going there (jury would have a very hard time following) and no judge would allow such minutiae to drown the proceedings and his calendar.

Can you explain exactly Joe enabled and manipulated Hunter?

I’d like to know they knew “beyond a reasonable doubt” that he was addicted at that exact time. People recover and relapse repeatedly.

Addiction is a terrible disease. Would you ridicule Joe Biden for raising a son who got cancer? You are incredibly ignorant.

Per one of the jurors, it was the text messages about 7-11 just days prior to buying the gun. He talked in his book about waiting hours at the 7-11 to meet his dealer.

If they were consistent, the GOP would agree with you. Alas, this is political.

The GOP has always acknowledged state limits on firearms including bans for convicted felons and current addicts so long as there is due process.

Anonymous wrote:SO GLAD THAT REPUBLICANS NOW SUPPORT GUN CONTROL!!!!

Let's go after all gun owners who lie on their forms and who use drugs while owning a gun. Can I get an AMEN?

And alcohol is a drug. Alcoholism is an addiction. Go get ‘em MAGA!

I’m just trying to follow. Are you suggesting we don’t enforce laws prohibiting drug addicts from owning guns? Drop them altogether? Simply because Hunter is going to jail?

No. I’m suggesting that everyone addicted to alcohol also be prohibited from owning guns. Alcohol is a drug. Alcoholism is an addiction.

Ok go for it.

Literally what I said. Are you okay?

Actually you said republicans should go for it. I’m suggesting you go find some addicts to prosecute.

Are you drunk? Yes, I’m suggesting republicans can be consistent in their beliefs and go after all alcoholics who’ve purchased a gun. I would LOVE some gun control and I’m totally fine with starting by applying the Hunter rules to everyone. But they won’t. Because they pretend alcohol isn’t a drug and because they only want to stop certain people from buying guns. And because this was politically motivated, not motivated by a genuine desire to enforce gun laws.

You are weirdly aggressive in your posts and keep trying to find a debate where there is none. If you have evidence like Hunter’s prosecutors did, then prosecute.

It’s “wealth privilege” not white skin that gets the soft treatment.

Addiction runs in Biden's family.

It is why he doesn't drink.

He is doing the right thing. Supporting his son but not running in to fix everything.
