This month the DC City Council will vote on Allen's proposal to deeply reduce sentencing for the under 25 crowd in DC, including murderers, rapists and child sex offenders. According to the Washington Post editorial board's comments today--both recent mass shooters would have been eligible under this proposal.

| The democrat felon fetish needs to end |
How? The Mayor and Council are on board. Allen apparently recently wrote a note to a DC judge severely chastising him for not offering early release to someone who at 17 operated in a group of violent home invaders, and while doing so raped of a mom and her 9 year old daughter they happened upon - he and his pals. |
Free country. Move to a more conservative area nobody forcing you to live in Montgomery County. |
DC COUNCIL. |
| OMG. This is awful but somehow I'm not surprised. Not even a little. DC is the worst. |
In 2016 the Council passed a law called IRA for early release for violent offenders committed under 18 (murder, rape etc.). They are citing 18 persons released who so far havent recidivized to supoort this new law. Based on that data of 18 persons, they want to expand the law to all violent offenders under 25 - of which 500+ would be eligible today for this look at severely reduced sentencing. |
Yes well no one ever accused the DC council of being full of intellectuals. What a terrible idea with what will be disastrous results for innocents across the city (but mostly in NE and SE). |
| crime is low in dc because the definition of crime only includes murder which is probably a misdemeanor now |
Can the feds step in? Trump should just run DC and then crime would actually be reduced not redefined down. |
My bad my bad same difference. Don't get why folks get so bent out of shape about the laws and leanings of an area they ain't nobody forcing them to stay in. Pack your shit and move to Buttcrack, Wyoming if you don't like how things are going here nobody's stopping you. |
Yeah the government is about to let out violent offenders with youth, strength, minimal education, and no job prospects and the reasonable thing to do here is suggest moving to Wyoming. |
I don’t understand this. Not all of us can move. Job obligations, for one. And not all DCUMs are wealthy enough to pack up and move. |
They ain't letting em out in Wyoming are they? DC got a shuttlebus service that's taking these violent offenders into Yellowstone National Park or something? |
And here we go... Curious why you assume this has anything to do with liberalism /conservativism. And just for your stereotyping, Wyoming is more libertarian (much like New Hampshire) than anything else so pick another state for your puerile buttcrack humor. Or maybe YOU need to travel more and get to know the variations in our great land? |
