I'm really curious. Is it reputable? "Good"? Or a fall back? Or a safety school? Party school? It seems that EVERYONE has gone there or has kids attending.
I also can't get over the I81 location. It's certainly no "Happy Valley". |
It’ll be just fine without you and yours. P.S. - Many would consider not being Happy Valley (State College) is a good thing. |
It's a fine school. Great school spirit, good girl to guy ratio (for guys), fun, and you will have lots of options after graduation. I know successful business school grads, doctors, etc. |
Also, forgot to mention, yes, great girl to guy ratio, but girls, that's great too as many leave (including my sister) with great friends and memories. |
It's a solid school. I did not grow up in the DC area, but my brother went there from a Northeast state and loved it. Also when I lived in DC I probably have met 15-20 JMU grads and every single one absolutely loved it and did not have a bad thing to say about it. |
What is IB1?
|
I-81. It is a highway! |
Yes.
I didn’t even know what Happy Valley was. |
How strange that there’s a girl/guy ratio difference for a large public. Dies it offer a lot of traditionally female professions - nursing, teaching, etc. |
I know this. Everyone loves it. They have great school spirit. They love JMU. But is it a GOOD school? All the PPs are making it sound like a party school and fun extension of high school. |
Yes |
Short answer: Yes.
Is everyone going to like it: No. Do I know people who graduated from JMU and are successful profesionals in the DC area: Yes, lots. Accountants, mostly and our dentist is a JMU grad. |
This. I also know a lot of Elem/MS/HS teachers from JMU. |
Just how clueless is the average DCUM poster? There is a gender disparity in all of higher education in favor of girls. |
JMU also started out as a teacher’s college for women, so you’d expect to see more women, just as at Mary Washington. |
