I wish I had known ABC before I joined club XYZ

Love to hear some been there done that comments on various clubs. Trying to search here for more information on the specifics of clubs yields a ton of extraneous and occasionally trolly information. Are there any BTDT parents who could comment on their clubs, both positive and negative?

I committed to a club. Things worked out! It was awesome. Thanks for asking

That LMVSC was going to have some many issues, should had gone to Alexandria.

Not a LMVS parent but actually a SYC parent who has been with the club a couple years now.

Many teams we have been oh so close to leave through out the years but I will say SYC looks like a new club with the new leadership. Im sure LVMS will be fine too (hopefully)

Alexandria is a bit over rated. passing non stop through out practice and not learning much technical moves, I guess when I switch clubs I can show how good a passer my kid is.

I wish I knew when I joined my Academy style club that promises to move players up and down during the season that it wasn't really the case.

I would have joined the club nonetheless but the honesty would have been appreciated and helped me set expectations.

Yep, same here. Except that we left and DC is much happier without constantly feeling like every practice is a tryout.

Yep. If your child relies on practice to get touches and work on 1 v 1 moves you probably should be at a different club. But that will be true at other top teams at top clubs. Most of those kids are getting touches outside practice.

Know what you and DC want going in.

Make sure club can deliver on the above.

Don't ever take coach's word for it. Do your homework and confirm.

That practices were going to be so late.

That BSC favors big fast athletes with marginal soccer IQ.

I wish we had known in year one of DA that the DP system is a farce and clubs don't really honor the intention that USSF has for them.

I wish I had known that my club would make rosters so large. We left and now pay close attention to roster size. I won't ever again let my DC be on a team with greater than 18 players.

Isn't this all clubs in the years before puberty?

IME it gets much better around mid and post puberty. U14 (girls) is when the girls tend to even out in size and the size advantage disappears completely.
