Its MCPS. This should not be a surprise.

MoCo should have raised property taxes to pay for the cameras.

They did.

Apparently not enough.

Can we hike them dramatically now so we can pay off this deal?

The most important thing was to install functioning cameras on every single bus rapidly.

The most important thing was to cut a deal with Dallas County Schools so they would get a cut of our fine money so that they wouldn't go out of business.

It didn't work and the voters of Dallas, Tx closed the entire Dallas County Schools entity because of the massive kickbacks and bribes associated with this scheme.

MCPS' Director of Transportation flew to Dallas to meet with the Superintendent of the Dallas County Schools (now going to jail) to cut the MCPS deal giving Dallas a cut of MCPS fine money.

Clearly some people are okay with letting kids get hit by cars.

Clearly some people think that a camera will stop a car. It doesn't. It doesn't keep children safe and hasn't kept children safe.

Did you read the Inspector General's Report on this scam?

Using children to scam citizens is the oldest trick in the books. Pretend it's about the kids and walk off with $20 million and don't leave a penny behind.

A camera doesn't stop a car. What a camera does, is deter drivers from passing a stopped school bus. Just like speed cameras deter drivers from speeding, and red-light cameras deter drivers from running red lights.

Do you have evidence that no one has stopped passing buses since camera enforcement began?

And have you ever been hit by a car? I have.

It's not about you. Do you turn yourself in when your phone rings and the voice says there is an arrest warrant out for you unless you go buy a gift card?

It's about $20 million going to scammers. There is no current contract, fines are missing, "data" is controlled by company who worked for guy going to jail this money, company is on their 7th name change and no one can figure out who is going to own the $20 million in cameras when the deal expires.

Unless you are breaking the law and endangering children, you don’t have to worry about where your money is going.

False. Lots of people who have not broken the law are getting citations. Part of the scam is to mail the citation too late for an appeal.
Another part of the scam is to send out citations that aren't violations.

The FBI and the Montgomery County Inspector General disagree with you. They say you should be concerned about where your money is going.
But maybe you are a Trumper and want the FBI and IG shut down?
