How is parking by Museum of Natural History?

Anonymous
On a weekday. We have only been on weekends. If we get there at 9:30 on a Sunday, we can usually find parking within a block.

Terrible!!! There are tons of tourist present during the spring and summer. We catch the metro down there (most days we just hang in the grass because the museums are too pack and not worth it since we live here and go often). I would catch a Uber, metro or stick to Sunday’s.

You might be able to find something but its all on chance. You could park at some metro station that isn't in downtown and take the metro.

Not within a block, but if you don't mind circling a bit and walking a few blocks, you'll be fine. You can always find something around D street, but if you are someone who is going to be frustrated about having to circle (cough cough: my husband) it might not be for you. Personally, I'd rather circle for 10 mins and walk 3 blocks for the massive payoff of sticking my kid in the nice cool car and driving home at the end, instead of trudging across the mall to the metro and parenting all the way home.

I can usually park within a block. Museum dues t open until 10 though, and it’s only 2 hour parking. I think it’s three house on the mall side.

You can pay to park in a garage, also.

If you get there right after those parking spots open after rush hour (9:30 am?), you can find a spot pretty close. But it’s only 2 hour parking.

GIven that the museum is free, pony up for a lot. Do Spot Hero or Parking Panda so you can choose your lot. $15 is not a lot to pay for access to the museums.

What lots? Nothing is close enough to be worthwhile.

Would have never occurred to me to try to park within a mile radius.

Out of curiosity, what does it cost?

We paid $17 for all day parking at the Ronald Reagan Building last weekend.

If you must drive, definitely just reserve a space through an app. You’ll be able to see the prices and how close you can get. The two-hour street parking and time to find it is too stressful.

Honestly, though, parking in a Metro garage will always be less expensive than a downtown garage. If you arrive before 10:30 a.m or leave in the afternoon, it will transit will likely be the fastest way in/out of the city too.
