An acquaintance of mine stated that she knows a woman who is paying her nanny only 50 a day and brags about it. The nanny is undocumented. Is there anything that can be done, to help the nanny ?
Or if someone reports this woman can it backfire on the nanny too? |
If someone is working without papers do you really think they want attention drawn to themselves? |
Is she live-in? Getting room and board? |
Even if she is undocumented, she is still protected by wage and hour laws. If she's local, CASA is a great advocacy group for immigrant, usually undocumented workers. https://wearecasa.org/programs/legal/ |
MYOB. (For the nanny’s sake) |
Find her a job that pays better or stay out of it. |
Most of DCUM is underpaying undocumented maids who clean their homes. You won't find much good advice here. |
Casa? |
Call ICE. |
This is a perfect example of white savior behavior. Is there any indication that the nanny wants/needs/is asking for your help? No? Then stand down. |
Where is the nanny from? She probably knows about Casa. How many hours does he work daily?
|
And their nannies. |
Wrong. We should all be looking out for others and attempting to protect people who are being taken advantage of, harassed, and abused. OP, not sure what can be done. If you think she is good at her job, you could try to help her find fair employment. You also know who not to be friends with! |

How do parents do any kind of basic background check on these people??? |
