So my 10 year old son is good enough at summer swim that the coaches want him swimming year round, but we can only do a day or two a week during the school year.
Are there any programs that can make this work? Everything I'm looking at shows 3 practices minimum a week. thanks |
Fins at Georgetown Prep but all sessions are Friday-Sunday. |
| Stroke and Turn clinic through the county |
| 3-4 at that age |
| The coaches "want" him swimming year round? What does that even mean? What does your child want? |
| The Y has a team that only practices 2x/week. It’s not a very strong team/coaches, but it was a fine enough transition from summer swim to year round. |
| Fins or Tollefson stroke and endurance (not team). |
| Sea Devils has a Sunday clinic at Holton Arms that is one day per week. It is what we used when our kids were 8-10. All Star Aquatics has a similar program at Bolger and Stone Ridge that is also one day per week. Tollefson training and endurance is superior, but quite expensive. We did Tollefson when our kids got older and needed a more rigorous program. They also allow flexibility to increase to more than one day per week. Good luck! |
| RMSC juniors recommends 2d/wk, and offers 4d/wk to choose from, making it a very flexible option. |
Minimum is 2 days but most kids swim more. And, its very hard to get into. |

I don’t think any team is 2 days/week at that age.
I second tollefson stroke and turn. |
Fins is lame. Tried it once. Terrible. |
How do the competitive teams compare for these sites? |
