| Tkpk always has a very quirky parade. We live here and go almost every year but we didn’t go today. They also usually have 911 Truthers, which no one gives a second look. |
|
What's the issue here? Takoma Park is part of his county council district. Of course he'll be in the Takoma Park 4th of July parade.
Yes to the 911 Truthers - I was in front of them 2 years ago. |
would you be this dismissive if a politician posed with a depiction of Obama as a rat? |
|
Did you miss the giant Baby Trump balloon at the end?
Come on. It's TAKOMA PARK. |
NP. Well, it would be WEIRD for Hucker, a Democrat, to pose with Obama as a rat. With that said, I don't think folks would be particuarly upset. Obama as a monkey, however? It would be politically fatal. I hope you can see the difference. |

The whole thing is boorish and childish, which is exactly what I’d expect from Tacky Park.
Independence Day is so much more than whoever is currently occupying the Whitehouse. It’s rediculous to get caught up in that and conflate the two. But again, it’s TP, so you can’t expect much. |
Trump conflated the two. |
I mean, that would be very unusual in Takoma Park. Almost impossible to imagine. I can't help but think that there are many small towns in parts of the US where people are disparaging Democrats outwardly, so that's probably a better analogy. I wouldn't live in or visit any of those places willingly though. I do welcome what TKPK does, but obviously that's because I think it's justified. Do you live in Takoma Park? It is probably even less Republican than DC-proper, which is to say less than 4-5% of voters. There are TONS of anti-Trump things all over if you are paying attention - some more and some less subtle, some permanent some more temporary (I am being vague here to protect people with provocative yard displays). If you don't live here, there's likely not much reason to come. So I guess the good news is that if it bothers you it is easy to stay away! |
Ahh. I see. You just gave yourself away as a moron. |
| We also had drag queens this year walking with a County Councilman, Syrian refugees walking with the Washington Revels and racing cupcakes with Sean Spicer cut outs peeking up (like Spicey hiding in the bushes in the early days of the Administration). The Takoma Park parade is always a lot of fun. |

Folks, see for yourselves. I took a lot of parade photos and a number of videos -- also some at Takoma Park's evening program. I posted to Twitter with the hashtag #TakomaPark4th. Check them out -- and photos that others

Looks like lots of people in a wide range of costumes and floats, out in the heat, having a good time. Not sure if OP thinks we're supposed to be horrified by this? |
Yeah, also a lot of local swim teams, a hockey club, local preschools, etc in the parade. It’s really low key and local and at times quirky...not sure why anyone would make a thing of it. |
Citation, please. |
