Naturally lazy people

Anonymous
Anyone out here naturally lazy? I ask because my 19-year-old son is. I am convinced he is just wired this way, as I don't recall a time in his life that he has been anything but low energy and lazy. I am genuinely interested in hearing from the naturally lazy/low energy. How has being this way impacted your life? Have you improved any?

Oh my word, get off his jock. Leave him alone.

I don’t think anyone can answer without first understanding what your definition of lazy is OP. I’m still in bed at 1pm but it’s my day off and I work incredibly hard all week. I don’t consider myself lazy. DC never cleans her room without knockout drag down fights but she will play double headers and soldier through 100 degree and 300 degree hours long athletic practices. Does your son not have any motivation around his interests or passions? Is he depressed or just someone who reserves energy for things that truly interest him?

My mother is one of the most naturally lazy people I've known. Luckily my father was very hard working.

My MIL. DH Isn't lazy, just can't be bothered with things that need to be done but don't interest him. Such as the yard work I can't do.

This is truly a terrible way to talk about your ds. Have you always labeled him lazy? If so that might be part of the problem. What is it you think he should be doing?

Try to curb your hovering, nagging, monitoring and observing, and watch in shock and awe as he comes out from hiding more often.

Extroverts/hoverers/"nurturers" are EXHAUSTING. People will continue to try to avoid you by any means necessary if you don't cut it out.

I am kind of lazy, I like to do nothing a lot. Maybe just read or watch TV or surf the net. Sit on my patio.

On the other hand, I also work full time and do a pretty good job if you can go by my performance evaluations.

I also like to sleep a lot, always have since I was a little kid.

So yeah, lazy, somewhat unmotivated at times, lacking in ambition by DCUM standards, but happy!

Op here, I appreciate your response and find it insightful. Have you always been this way or do you think you've improved some as an adult?

It's a beautiful day; shouldn't you be outside? But don't forget sunscreen. Are you wearing that? Why would you wear that? What about those shorts I bought you last weekend? Did you hear me?

He's motivated by video games. He just graduated recently, and I will say getting him across that stage was one of the most difficult taskings of my life.
