Buy Buy BABY v Babies R Us

Any thoughts on the best place to register? Positives or negatives are appreciated. Thanks so much.

I liked the selection and help at Buy buy baby, but ultimately opted for Babies r us due to the fact that there weren't many BBB locations where my family lives ( in NJ). Just FYI, alot of baby items people tend to register for are in store only, so online isn't an option. You may want to research the products you want first, like which carseat, stroller, the big stuff, and then make sure the store carries it. Mostly these store carry the same items, but BBB has some higher end stuff that Babies R Us doesn't always have.

Good luck and congrats on your pregnancy!

We registered at target and buy buy baby. Target for all the online and out of town people. BBB because it's so much better than Babies r us. BRU has terrible service. The prices are similar, but BBB has some higher-end products. It's such a better store.

We preferred Buy Buy Baby. Way better customer service versus Babies R Us, which I think is important for a registry.

I was registered at both and I found Buy Buy Baby much easier to deal with in terms of returns without a receipt. They simply take the item back and give you a store credit with no hassle...

BRU is like a Kmart without the good prices.

Couldn't agree more... although, I do probably most of my shopping now at Target or BRU b/c we are no where near a BBB. BBB has a sucky online registry but as PP said - use Target then as online. In store - LOVED the people at BBB and I've been to both in this area. Have NEVER liked people at BRU - any of the stores!!

I registered at both b/c BBB had some special items that BRU didn't carry. But BRU has a better online store.

Even though BB has "higher end" stuff, BRU has been expanding their selection of higher end stuff and their overall selection is much larger (in terms of # of bouncers, swings, pack n plays, etc.)

I did a lot of shopping and asking questions at BBB and Great Beginnings but ultimately registered at BRU once I knew what I wanted. It helped that I am 5 mins from BRU and 20-30 from BBB and Great Beginnings. After my shower, the exchanges and last minute purchases were a lot more convenient!

I had to register at Babies R Us because we had a lot of out-of-state people that do not have the other stores.

We registered at both, because BBB was not local to a lot of my family...where as BRU was. Of course you can order stuff online, but most people like to get things in person mostly.

BEWARE of Target. They're return policy is AWFUL. Make sure you get a gift receipt or you'll have a lot of trouble returning without a receipt!!

I would also check out Great Beginnings in Gaithersburg. They have also a website and you can register on-line. We found that they have way more selection than BBB or Baby'R Us , and better quality and aren't really more expensive.

Thank you all SO very much!!!

Avoid BRU if you can. I registered at BRU and just recently was exposed to their RIDICULOUS return policy. I received two of the same items off of my registry and when I tried to return the item to the store (with the packing slip), the manager refused to accept the return because it is an online-only item. My only option is to send the package back (a huge bassinet, by the way) at my expense and then the original sender will be credited with the return. I cannot exchange the item for something else, nor can I recieve a store credit. The only way I would be able to receive another item is to ask my friend to buy another gift. Too much hassle for a 38 wk pregnant woman.
