Elrich wants the state to sell you weed

Socialized weed. That is probably the most Takoma Park thing that ever happened.

Is there a way for Montgomery County voters to somehow signal loud and clear that they are not Takoma Park?
Takoma Park is a joke, and they are making the County look like a joke, and now they want socialized weed.

How much is the state legislature going to push the Takoma Park agenda on the rest of the state? And why does Marc Elrich think he has ANY credibility at the state level, after the whole debacle with Hogan at the board of public works over the highway widening?

Sounds great.

Good idea. It would bring in lots of revenue.

I'm on board with this plan.

They can't help themselves. Out of control spending forces them to find any revenue stream they can. Once they spend all the pot revenue, they'll be legalizing heroin next.

This comment is absurd. Marijuana is being legalized state by state and soon it will be legal everywhere and federally. It would be foolish to pretend like this wasnt the case and to not make efforts to maximize revenue.

I'm so glad I left Montgomery County last year, lol.

Sounds awesome. It would bring tons of revenue.

What's your issue with it, OP? You think everyone's gonna turn into potheads?

Pot is no more dangerous than alcohol -- and in many ways, it's LESS dangerous. So if the state can sell liquor, why shouldn't it sell weed?

LOL

1. Heroin and pot aren't even CLOSE to the same thing.

2. Take a look at Portugal. They legalized essentially every drug there and guess what? They have the lowest overdose rate in Europe and their gang problem is a thousand times better. Legalizing drugs helps bring in state revenue, makes it safer for people to use relatively safe drugs like pot by regulating them, and takes incentives away from gangs to get into the drug business.

Also, it's not like if you legalize heroin, suddenly tons of people are going to be like "you know what? lemme just shoot up some heroin. great idea!"

I think the opposite is true, some people may be able to get off opioids with access to marijuana

It will be exactly like liquor - Available and legal. Also, expensive and inconvenient to buy.

Well, considering pot is not physiologically addictive and it's impossible to OD on it, if I had to pick, I'd absolutely pick pot.

Do you know anything about pot?

The revenue is exactly WHY it’s legalized in all these places. You think the politicians care that much about treating your glaucoma? Follow the money, people. If you don’t realize that, you’re a rube.

This explains a lot. Elrich seems like he's been high since he started running the county.

The point is nobody's legalizing heroin.
