USAA Car Buying Service

Does USAA (or another) car buying service usually result in a good deal? We need ot buy two new cars for the first time in a very long time and are dreading it.

Yes. We've used USAA several times. It's not like it's some amazing, unheard-of discount, but you will absolutely get a great price.

Yes. At this point it’s about putting out feelers online and see who will give you the best deal. It’s a good service.

My parents used it and got a decent price and said it was very very smooth—it took a lot of the stress out of the process.

Yes, especially for the brands that offer incentives. I got a $2500 incentive on my Mercedes last month. If you have the time, you can negotiate an even lower price though.

I tried to use it this weekend and the usaa price was only $100 off msrp on a 2020 model that just came out. We ended up doing much better just negotiating on our own—$3100 off msrp. A friend used it to buy a Mercedes recently though and got $10k off msrp.

In the US, many good services for buying cars but they are located in different states. Do not be scared. You can contact this company https://www.sgtautotransport.com/services/car-dealers-auto-shipping for help and they can quickly and safely ship your car to the place you need. They are true professionals in this field and I have been working with them for over a year now! I constantly use the online calculator on their website and know the exact price for their services. I became one of their 8,000 regular customers and do not regret it!

Not really. If its free for you use, that means someone else is paying for it....and the "deals" usually benefit those paying for it, ie car dealers. USAA and other car buying services are powered by TrueCar (or at least they use the same underlying pricing engine). When TrueCar first came, there was a big uproar among car dealers, they boycotted using TC as it benefited the consumers very well. TC were forced to change their business model in such a way that it benefit the car dealers now. You're better of pitting one dealer with another. Better yet, I have a friend who went to see three dealers (in-person visits to show that he was a serious buyer), then a few days later, had all three on one conference call where they could fight among themselves to win my friend's business.

I've used it as a starting point and then negotiated down a couple of thousand even further.

Used it on a VW and a Toyota.
