Summer vacation in Europe where it is not too hot

Anonymous
So next year in July we need to go to Belgium for a wedding. We will be there for about one week and want to spent another week somewhere else.
I was thinking of Portugal, but now I am thinking it might be to hot in July/August. So I am looking for other options with a beach that are not too hot in July/August. I am aware that most houses don't have AC. We are a family of 5. What is out there?

TIA

Ireland, England, Scotland

Do you want a beach or cooler weather? Places like Scandinavia, Ireland, Scotland will be cooler than Portugal, Spain and Italy but they won't be beach destinations.

It's a bit of a crapshoot so personally I would be ok risking warmer temps if I was going to a beachy place like the Algarve.

Prague and Budapest. Even in August it’s not that hot.

Nope. I'm in London, and it was 90 today. British buildings are not generally made for the high temperatures we had last summer and are going to have this summer, and it is hideous. Last summer I had some visiting family members stay at a nice hotel because my house has no AC, and...the hotel's AC broke because it couldn't handle the sweltering temperature.

Maybe Scotland or Ireland.

Was just high 90s in Prague this week. Budapest hit 90 also. Not even July yet.

Lived in BP and summers are miserable, sweaty and hot. Most places do not have AC. Stick with Scandinavia. The farther north, the better.

Denmark has fun beaches.

Yes, it is! It will be unbearably hot in August. I used to live in Budapest and we had very hot summers. Prague and Budapest are beautiful, but they will be very hot in the summer.

Consider a stopover in Iceland with IcelandAir. We did this on the way to Switzerland.

Can you name any I could check out?

You're close enough to France or Netherlands, both of which will be cooler in certain areas. I once woke up in Colmar, France in July to 45 feegree weather and had to purchase a coat.

What kind of vacation do you want? City, beach, countryside?
