Nope. I'm in London, and it was 90 today. British buildings are not generally made for the high temperatures we had last summer and are going to have this summer, and it is hideous. Last summer I had some visiting family members stay at a nice hotel because my house has no AC, and...the hotel's AC broke because it couldn't handle the sweltering temperature.

Maybe Scotland or Ireland.

Cornwall, Devon, Costwolds in England will be ok temp in July. No to Dorset.

Agree. FYI - the 90 in London is a freak day - we do get heatwaves but it's not common. I also recommend Scandinavia - there are beautiful beaches in Sweden (I can't actually name any, sorry!) that people from Stockholm travel to, all around the archipelago. However, if you choose these locations with cooler weather, also be prepared that the weather might be absolutely miserable - rainy and awful.

Dolomites in Italy. Or Lake Garda?

There is actually a direct flight from Brussels to the azores (Sao Miguel, Portugal). And then you can fly direct from the azores to Boston or NYC. It’s nice because it kind of breaks up your trip coming back. It’s 4 hour to sao miguel and then another 4 hours to Boston.

I’m a huge fan of the azores. It has perfect weather year round.

I would second Tavira, although there are lots of beach towns in the Algarve (Lagos is another nice one).

The Azores are nice but not beachy and depending on the age of your kids might be less fun (are they old enough to enjoy hot springs, hikes, driving around?)

You could also fly to Palermo (or Catania) and go to the beach at Cefalu, San Vito lo Capo, or someplace else in Sicily

What airline is this (Brussels -> San Miguel -> Boston) Although we live in DC and will prefer direct flights.

You'll have to check who flies Brussels to PDL but Air Azores flies PDL to Boston, and they code share with Jet Blue so they will ticket you on a connection to DCA.
