Montgomery College Parking Ticket

Anonymous
i just received a $50 parking ticket for dropping off my middle schooler at a program at Montgomery College. I had no idea this parking was illegal and the program never told us where to park. Is the ticket tied to the county system?

Pay the ticket.

MC tells you where you can park but never said the parking is free. By the way, drop a camper means you stay in the car and your child walk to the camp classroom by herself. Sorry, you have to pay.

You walked your middle schooler in?

We were told we could park in the student parking lot in the summer. Make sure you don't park in the staff parking lot.

Also, to answer another poster's question about walking in a middle schooler. I did for my rising 6th grader on the first day because he couldn't locate the building from the parking lot.
Frankly I am not familar with the buildings either so if I can't figure it out, then I would not expect my child to either.

Yes, and you can - with a permit.

You can appeal your ticket by e-mailing parking@montgomerycollege.edu and telling them that nobody told you that you needed a permit.

Seems to me I got very specific parking instructions..and yes I would walk my middle schooler at least the first day,

I got an unfair ticket there 18 years ago and didn’t pay it. It had never been an issue.

OP here. The program requires us to walk them in and sign them in and sign them out. The program never told us where to park.

There’s some areas where 20-30min parking is allowed. Otherwise you need a permit.

OP, really. This is something you can look up on your own.

And you didn’t think to ask if you were unsure? You assumed incorrectly and now want to blame “the program”? If there’s information I need that’s not provided, then I ask. It’s really not that difficult.

F them, all they can do is hold your registration hostage. Unless you are interested in taking some classes in 13th grade they have no power to enforce.

It’s possible they’ll waive it if you explain. Just ask.

I would also let the program know, so they include clearer instructions in the future.
