Montgomery College Parking Ticket

Anonymous
OP, where did you park that caused you to get a ticket? A couple of weeks ago when I was there, an admin person told me I can park in the student parking lot if needed. I specifically asked if I needed a permit for that and the admin said no. So we left our car at the student designated area for an hour and walked around and came back with no ticket on our windshield.

This ticket thing at MC in the summer is pretty odd. My DD took a summer class there last summer and was told that she DID NOT need a parking permit during the summer. She parked there both summer sessions in the student lot and never got a ticket. Maybe something changed this year, but most of the lots there were pretty empty last summer.

If I gave you a parking ticket would you pay it? They aren’t cops

Parking enforcement isn't done by police officers. You knew that, right?

They don't have college students. They have to make money some way.

Do you have any idea how pathetic this makes you appear?

Also, to answer another poster's question about walking in a middle schooler. I did for my rising 6th grader on the first day because he couldn't locate the building from the parking lot.
Frankly I am not familar with the buildings either so if I can't figure it out, then I would not expect my child to either.

Yes, and you can - with a permit.

You can appeal your ticket by e-mailing parking@montgomerycollege.edu and telling them that nobody told you that you needed a permit.

Definitely this.

Email them and explain nicely. They will waive it. They did waive mine.

"This ticket thing at MC in the summer is pretty odd."

I think it depends on the campus.

We live around the corner from the Rockville campus and would never think parking was free.

True but if you are visiting campus it is not obvious where to get a temporary permit so you can park for an hour or two. There are no ticket kiosks for instance. I believe you can get one from security but that means you have to get there 40 minutes early to park, get a temporary permit and put won your dashboard
FWIW I would probably walk my child to the class on the first day if he was younger than 16 and/or make sure he has a campus map.

If only Montgomery College posted this on line so that you could find it by Googling Montgomery College parking.

They used to mail a parking permit to each registered camper along with an instructional letter. Did they stop that practice? Bizarre.

We got a permit mailed to us for camps at MC Rockville this summer, well 2 actually, one for each session. We’ve got them every year. I do think they suspended fines last summer, because of the construction or something.

What’s wrong with you? Nothing in this scenario makes the OP “pathetic.” Get a grip and stop being so nasty.
