| We have narrowed it down to these two options for our family of four. Would love to get a 2016, 2018 or 2019 model to save a little money. Opinions welcome. |
| Love my 2016 Pilot. I chose it over the highlander because of the extra trunk space (the floor opens up) and slightly better 3rd row legroom. I have 4 kids and we use the back row the time - my 12 yo is comfortable there. |
|
Bought a new 2018 pilot ex (middle of 5 Trina) after test driving both last year. Had more leg room in the 3rd row which sold it fir me.
I tried to find a used 2016-2017 bug they wanted the same price as new everywhere I looked, and there weren’t many. Love my pilot still a year later |
| I always pick pilot (once in 2009 and again last year) because of the 3rd row leg room. It really is THAT much better. I also like 2 benches vs captains and a bench (and I know Im in the minority) because I have 3 kids so when they each have a friend I need 6 seats which only the 2 benches give you that. |
| Look at consumer reports. I was shocked to recently see that the Pilot has horrible expected reliability. They’ve been having lots of transmission problems. |
| We opted for highlander. Both seem great. |
| NP. Can you get leather and V6 in the Pilot so that it feels a little “luxury” to drive? |
| I'd go with Toyota. Because of transmission on a Pilot. |
|
I found the highlander to be a much nicer ride and a more plush interior than the Pilot.
Have you driven both? |
19:07 here. I have a Touring which comes with leather and feels pretty high end overall to me. The drive isn’t bad. I leased so I’m not worried about the transmission issues/projected reliability problems. |
| Both are excellent. I have a Highlander. Just pick the one you get a better deal on. |
| Highlander, hands down. |
| Toyota prices their to beat Honda. For same price, you vet more extras in Highlander than Pilot . As much as I liked the Highlander??I bought a pilot because I liked the finishing inside. |
|
| Google Toyota past breaks problems. I would go with Honda. |
