Best Buy
Home Depot Sears Bray and Scarf Does it really matter? |
| We went with Brey and Scarff because they had the best price (they worked with us when presented with other pricing) and because I trust their warrantee and service more than a big box store. |
This is kind of my thinking, but I went there the other day, and the guy was pretty high pressure. He also quoted me a price that was $200 more than what other stores are charging. So, this makes me not trust them. |
| We went to M&M Appliances. |

Costco
Ferguson Best Buy Home Depot/Lowe’s If you have time Home Depot, Lowes and Best Buy sometimes have great sales, Fourth of July would be a good time to look. The delivery process can be frustrating with Home Depot and Lowe’s, I have had nothing but great experiences with Best Buy and they typically will have their product available sooner than the other two For work, we buy everything through Ferguson with a builder discount. I don’t know what their pricing is like on the retail front, but service has always been great. Not bray & scarff - The pricing is not great and they are the worlds biggest jerks for service. I don’t know many non-rich people who have bought from Bray and Scarff and been happy in the end |
| We had a really good experience with ABW in Rockville |
| Lowes. Once you've decided what you want, ask for their contractor price. It varies by the product/manufacturer; it's not just an across the board x%. They'll type up an invoice and submit it through their system for pricing. It comes right back in a couple of minutes. |
| Definitely wait until a holiday weekend (like 4th of July) when there are generally good sales on appliances. |

Best Buy is fine if the appliance works right, but god help you if there's an issue. They delivered us an over the counter microwave that was damaged, and it took so long to get them to replace it plus tons of threats to their upper management to even get them to respond.
We've also had an awful experience with Bray and Scarff being no-shows for their appointment period (repeatedly) and then trying to charge us anyway when they hadn't delivered their services. |
| Lowes. You can go on eBay and buy a 10% off code for a couple of dollars too. |
| Glebe Appliance in Arlington |
I went there. The guy was so unhelpful. He recommended a bottom of the barrel washer. They didn’t even have much to look at in the showroom. |
| I went to ADU in Gaithersburg. I live in DC and traveled b/c they came highly recommended. Great experience. |
| Costco or Best Buy. The CEO of Best Buy is trying to make a point of why brick and mortar is necessary. And Costco because it's Costco and they're amazing. |

For price always start online:
https://www.ajmadison.com/?gclid=CjwKCAjw3azoBRAXEiwA-_64OoFhnzdb6UIZ02wXVJ2q3b8QPREzL_4flRM-qaWHJg7l_gUiUM8uKBoCmO0QAvD_BwE They have the lowest prices of anyone and everyone matches their prices even Best Buy who will tell you over the phone they don't but if you show up at the store and tell them you found exact appliance on AJM for X amount then the manager will match. I like to buy locally so I can speak to someone and go to if there is a problem. Best buy is okay but we had our washer and dryer delivered 6 times and I kid you not. Each time different issue, wrong color, dent, no parts.. insane. My take is that perhaps they did not have it in stock so they sold us but had to wait for it to arrive so they kept us on the hook bringing us wrong stuff. Once all was installed and in place, never one problem for few years already. I like local places totally. I would consider Best Buy or Lowes or any other place as long as they match your price form AJM and go from there. If you are buying a brand new brand and good brand you got a warranty. And third party hooks up anyway so you don't really deal much with selling part. Unless there are delivery issues, this is easy fix though with anyone. If you can support smaller stores, I always do this first as I like to support mom's and pops stores if and whenever possible, then if they are too expensive I have to move to larger place for I have to watch my budget but again, if they can match then yes. Totally and small places often have great personal service. |
