Does your DC 's braces wire come off?

Anonymous
Both dcs have had problems keeping their wires on. The wire is incredibly thin and pops off the brackets constantly.
Is this situation unique?

Never happened to us and I have 3 kids in braces.

I had one kid that constantly popped wires and brackets. I have another kid who never did. Guess which kid was following the orthodontist's instructions on what to eat and which one wasn't.

My son did not have this problem, but I did (braces as an adult).

I followed directions exactly.

The dr was fixing my bite so there was a ton of pressure on that wire.

This happens and need not be related to behaviors.

sometimes if they try to clip the wire short so it doesn't poke by the molars, once the teeth move with the new setting, it can become shorter and cause it to pop out at the back, is that what is happening?

if it is all over, I'm thinking it might be what they eat

My DD had brackets breaking all the time. Wire problems sometimes. I feel like we were there once a month.

if that is what's happening, please take your kid to get the wire clipped. It is very painful. It happens when they try to move the last molar into position. It is t your kid's fault.

My son had to go back to the ortho after every single appointment for a while. The ortho knew why, and always made room for him on the calendar the next morning but one. Once the molar was in place, it stopped being necessary.

DC had two phases of braces. The first was with one orthodontist and the second with another. First time braces snapped once. Second one, constantly snapping. I frequently wonder if it's the quality of the wire the second one is using, but I've already paid in full so will just stick it out.

It probably is a different wire, but that might be related to the needs of your child at the time. They use different wires for different purposes.

I was an adult with braces, and snapped titanium wires regularly. I followed all the rules, so I think it was just the pressure from the work they were doing. My bite was being fixed.

My oldest is probably at the orthodontis 1-2x a month for broken wire/broken bracket. They're rotating a couple of teeth and I know there's a lot of pressure on the wires. I have no doubt that if they though it was because he was, repeatedly, doing something he wasn't supposed to, I would have heard about it.

Sometimes they easily pop off if there is a lot of pressure on the wire- depends on the issue being fixed

Never...nearly done with 2 years of braces

My DS too. His ortho lists all the no-no foods and DS honestly answers none. I vouch for him.

Totally compliant kid in braces and this happened a ton with her first round of treatment. When she started second round with a new wire, everything was better and the wires haven't popped a single time.
