Out of those brands how would you rank them from the most to least prestigious?
Lexus, Acura, BMW, Porsche, Jaguar, Land Rover, Alfa Romeo, Audi, Mercedes Benz, Tesla, Volvo |
|
Why?
What's the importance to you, and is it just cost? |
| What? |
No, not the cost because depending on how loaded is a car, it can cost the same across most brands, so just curious of the perception of prestige of a given brand in this area. Each area of the country seems to have a different perception of what is more prestigious. Just curious what a DC crowd's ranking is. |
|
Obviously a Rover.
Jerk. |
| Volvo, Tesla, MB, Porche, Afla, Audi, BMW, Acura, Lexus, LR, Jaguar. |
Definitely not Volvo. There are Mercedes and Rovers that cost close to $200k. I wouldn’t even put Lexus on the list. It really depends on the model. |
Acura makes a car that costs more than 200k. The volume model for Mercedes is the C/GLC and for LR the Range Rover Sport, not the G63 or full-size Autobiography. The average RX350 driver will have a higher HHI than a C-class/GLC driver. |
|
Cadillac Escalade.
End list. |
|
I like the look of Volvo SUVs (and I used to have one before I had 4 kids and needed a minivan) but I definitely wouldn't call them prestigious!
I think my Volvo was only 60k. Not expensive for a car at all. Very middle class. |
In 2019 Escalades are driven by limo drivers or exurban soccer moms. |
60K .. middle class ... only in DCUM |
| no one cares what you drive as long as it's newish and clean |

Eliminate Porsche, Jaguar, and Alfa Romeo. Those are sports cars, not SUVs.
Yes, I know they make SUVs, but those are for foolish buyers with emotional attachments to the sports cars of their younger days and they always thought it would be cool to own one. Not prestigious, just good marketing/branding. |
This. So weird. |
