SUVs - from the most prestigeous to the least?

Definitely not Volvo. There are Mercedes and Rovers that cost close to $200k. I wouldn’t even put Lexus on the list. It really depends on the model.

lol, yes, I drive a Volvo no way it’s top of the list 😂

What's the importance to you, and is it just cost?

No, not the cost because depending on how loaded is a car, it can cost the same across most brands, so just curious of the perception of prestige of a given brand in this area. Each area of the country seems to have a different perception of what is more prestigious. Just curious what a DC crowd's ranking is.

Who would care what anyone in DC thinks - never mind about a car??

Weird post, OP.

I can attest to this. Both our cars are old and dirty

Any newer SUV over an older one! Needs wireless CarPlay and wireless charging! Don’t care if it is Mercedes or Toyota. Must be at least mid-size.

All SUVs are non-prestigious. Really, really asinine cars that shouldn't exist.

Land Rovers SUCK ASS. Anytime you see someone driving a LR you can find the fool in your village who is easily departed from their money. LRs are horrendously unreliable money pits constantly in the shop for nose bleeding costly repairs.

The most prestigious car is a paid off one that won’t cost an arm and leg to fix, is reliable, and is less likely to be a target for carjackers.

Jeep CJ/Wrangler, Land Rover (when actually running), Bronco, GWagen are the most capable (non-truck) off-roaders. These are the most prestigious in my mind, because they are able to fully perform the function for which SUVs were originally designed (in the case of Land Rovers, at least so long as the electrical system holds out). Everything else is basically a mall-terrain vehicle.

volvos are for "whimpy" folk

Lexus, Acura, BMW, Porsche, Jaguar, Land Rover, Alfa Romeo, Audi, Mercedes Benz, Tesla, Volvo

They all bow to the off-road prowess of the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon.

And we live in the DMV. Maybe the west va folks would agree.

Most of the people with this setup are in things like Yukons and suburbans.

Or folks who off road as a hobby, vacation in the woods or the 4x4 beaches, etc., despite living in the DMV. As part of that demographic and a driver of a JLUR, I can verify. Zero chance I'd have taken any of our other SUVs further off the pavement than the grass lots at Gold Cup.

Yes, I know they make SUVs, but those are for foolish buyers with emotional attachments to the sports cars of their younger days and they always thought it would be cool to own one. Not prestigious, just good marketing/branding.

+1, I saw a Maserati Levante the other day and thought the same thing. It's a separate category, high end sports car companies trying to capture more of the SUV market with these bulkier models, but directed at an extremely narrow slice of the population. And in terms of prestige, they actually undermine whatever elitist image the owner is trying to project. They brand you as someone who doesn't understand value or quality or subtlety.
