Seems like they're all on the same team.

That said I find it very hard to believe anyone will be getting a college ride who isnt playing at 12 grade or U18/19 or whever the age group is when its time to graduate. Its like saying college coaches will scout JV for players.

Summer school needs to happen for holdbacks who want to play in college.... Doesnt matter if you repeated kindergarden or your lerning disabled or just poorly behaved. It will be the price to pay.

Shhh.. Too much reality.

Theres a parent that likes to comment on this thread that college college coaches are lined up to recruit JV players.
Irrelevant again. Almost everybody is playing U18/19 senior year.

Yea but recruitment occurred between freshman and sophmore year sooo... 🤷‍♂️
Irrelevant again. Coaches recruit players. I'm convinced your are planning on holding your September DD back a year to try to game the system.

Why would anyone do that? Club soccer has a 8/1-731 eligibility window. It doesn't matter if you hold your kid back 100 times. They'll have to play with their age not their grade.

^this. Having lived through the reorg of the age groups about 10’years ago, this is exactly what happened.

Be prepared for kids to be scrambled and some chaos come spring. Kids on current top teams will be dropped in favor of the older late calendar year kids.

Don't forget SY+30 guy.

He’s the same as crazy August guy who I’m also convinced is mlsnext is the best and can do whatever they want guy. He’d get farther with a blog or podcast rather than just ruining threads here.

Yeah, if you'd like, there are 8 clubs now that say "grade" is a factor but THE factor.

Come on, you're not that dense.

When clubs say "a factor" it means that it's a factor when it's in their best interest. In this case the clubs best interest is to play young Aug/Sept players by grade because it allows for college recruitment. Which they can use for advertising to bring in more and more youngers.

Can add https://spokanesounders.org/u-s-soccer-age-group-change-what-it-means-for-spokane-shadow/. "Our philosophy remains the same: most players develop best in their true age group." And like many others, they have flexibility.

And a pretty good read here on a timeless piece if you are thinking your child should play up where they say it depends on the kid and using grade is a bad reason, https://changingthegameproject.com/child-play-dos-donts-moving-kids-older-age-groups/

Looked through your "timeless piece"

1. The first citation was about RAE
2. The second citation was some oddball Canadian document
3. This is a blog/site written by one person + their opinions.

Pretty much the type of site I'd expect you to be reading.

Hahaha...

Directly from your Sounders link. Pretty obvious that they plan to group by grade but dont want to say it directly to allow for flexibility.

"What if my player’s birthdate and school grade don’t align?
We know some players, especially those with August or early-September birthdays, may not align perfectly with their grade level because Spokane schools start around September 1.

Our directors will review each situation case by case to find the best developmental and social fit for each player. The goal is always to keep kids challenged and comfortable, whether that means staying with classmates or training within their natural age group.

If your child’s birthdate and grade year don’t align, we encourage you to contact your director right away so they can conduct a proper audit."

Yes, their rec leagues will lean grade but travel is to make the best teams, "On our most competitive teams, we form the strongest possible age-specific pools.
On neighborhood-based teams, placement may occasionally reflect family or community factors."

So grouping by age with flexibility.

So you're saying that on their most competitive teams they plan to roster Aug/Sept players down a grade so they cant get recruited.

It will be fun to see all the traction this will get with parents.

This is tricky because I just don't think English is your first language.
