| 7 of those are crap. Candy? JFC, I never got candy as a kid and my parents were loaded. |
It’s hilarious to me how many people find it unbelievable that a working mom might manage to put cooked from scratch meals on the table every night that also taste good. Pp I am sorry you’re such a bad cook. What do you serve your family every night? |
+1 Here is a much more comprehensive table: https://fns-prod.azureedge.us/sites/default/files/ops/SNAPFoodsTypicallyPurchased-Summary.pdf TLDR: People on SNAP have very similar food spending habits to people not on SNAP. |
BUY is key there. Lots of states have shut down planned parenthood. Only the poorest qualify for Medicaid. There’s a wide range of poor and uninsured that you’re not accounting for. |
| That's why the condoms and birth control are usually locked up or right in front of the pharmacy under observation at all times. Once planned parenthood is gone their only source of low cost bc is gone. |
Yep and this admin cut off their funding. |
And 13 things are regular staples. I’d be fine blocking candy and soft drinks from purchases. I don’t have a problem with frozen novelties or snacks or cookies. |

Family member is intellectually disabled. Lives on his own and has a low income job but only because of help from from family and government. SNAP, LIHEAP, rural housing loan. That means family can help provide other things that give him a better quality of life like season passes and other experiences.
Being intellectually disabled is lonely since most people don’t feel comfortable with it. He buys soda and junk food with his snap. I don’t begrudge him. |
No one is buying what you are selling, lady. |
This!! My family member works part-time and has an IQ of 65. But yes, denying him a soda is the be all end all for all these selfish DCUMers. |
He can use his income for soda. Just like he can use his income for entertainment and anything else he enjoys but isn’t necessary. Why should that be part of snap- which is supposed to help promote better health through nutrition |
| Elderly aunt lives in a group home since grandparents died and siblings can’t be primary caregivers. Gets SSI, medicaid and SNAP. Also buys some junk food with her benefits. It’s a highlight for her. |
He has to use his income for rent numnuts. Do you have any idea how low income you have to be to qualify for SNAP? The bold faced ignorance combined with holier than thou bigotry of MAGA is astounding. You know nothing yet never cease to have some judgy a$$hole opinion. It's remarkable. |
| Do you think this issue will be resolved before Nov. 1? |
Do you have any idea how few outlets and entertainment intellectually disabled adults have? His family helps him do a lot and it is still a lonely life. Don’t tell me it’s “unnecessary” if you don’t have any experiences with it. He works, he pays sales tax and social security. He gets a lot of government assistance and his family picks up a lot of extras like his phone. What do I care if he buys some soda and chips with snap? |
