Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS)
They won’t do any story. He’s white. They want the great white hope to have a successful powerhouse of a program and be the face of northern Virginia high school football coaching. Black man try to run a similar program and some people want to bring him and I’m his program down by any means necessary. |
Complaining about Hayfield is a micro aggression. Not complaining about Madison is a micro aggression. Asking where the equivalent story about Madison is is a micro aggression. The absence of any equivalent story about Madison is a micro aggression. |
The racism card is sooooo tired. No one is going to shut up about this cheating fool bc you scream racism. Its not racist to expect someone to follow the rules. Throwing dirt at other coaches with no proof is slimy. If any other coach behaved with such incredible stupidity and hubris as Overton, there would be an article about that coach as well. |
If Overton did any of the wrongs you guys are accusing him of, he wouldn’t be coaching. Leave the man alone, let him win his games and continue on his undefeated season. Though I disagree with some of you about the championship. I think Madison will give Hayfield a run for their money and if they get past them, I don’t see them getting through some of the tougher teams from the south eastern part of the state |
| What are you talking about? He absolutely did those things. What about all the boys who transfered to play for him and were found ineligible and now can't play anywhere all year? |
No. Michelle Reid cleared the coach of any recruiting violations. And there has just been too much exaggeration and false accusations about the man. She said 15 kids who transferred to the school, wanted to play football. Not 33. The kids that haven’t proven their eligibility, aren’t playing. |
That's not at ALL what happened. Michelle Reid claimed that the students attending Hayfield processed the correct paperwork and satisfied FCPS requirements to stay enrolled as students there. The coach was NOT CLEARED of anything. Moments later, VHSL president had a meeting with the school and a large number of those students who FCPS stated were allowed to attend Hayfield as students were not allowed to play on Hayfield sports teams. There is no public information regarding the reason the large portion of Freedom transfers are not being allowed to play (8 or 9 out of 13, which is a lot). The coach was NOT CLEARED of ANYTHING by FCPS. |
|
Any logical person can *infer* that 9 out of 13 transfers not being allowed to play per VHSL certainly indicates serious ethical violations by the coach.
And who knows what is happening with investigations into the theft of thousands of dollars raised improperly on a third party app? |
| Hayfield has become a joke. |
A few days ago, the Fairfax Times quoted Michelle Reid saying the man was cleared. I guess you have better sources than the Times. |
Please link the quote, thanks. |
|
I believe all she said was that the Hayfield admin and staff all had her "full confidence" like every other FCPS employee, until proven otherwise. That's an exact sentence given to her to say by her lawyer, who was next to her at the meeting.
That's not saying someone was "cleared" of allegations. Not even close. |
|
I can't imagine a scenario where a coach did nothing wrong, didn't recruit players, didn't bend any rules, was 100% by the book and simply switched jobs and showed up eager to coach the kids who already attended Hayfield......but somehow mysteriously 9 players who followed him from his former job were found ineligible and could not play on his team.
Can anyone explain how this possibly could happen? Is there any plausible explanation that does not implicate him or his staff in misbehavior? |
|
That review has now been completed and did not substantiate the allegations published in local media that the Hayfield HS head football coach used his position to illegally recruit players from Freedom HS. The investigation also did not substantiate the allegations that students on the Hayfield High School football team did not reside in the Hayfield HS attendance zone.

Well the scenario you described doesn’t accurately portray what has happened. |
