Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS)
I agree. That was a bad choice on his part. I guess he figures he can roast MCPS once the report comes out but he was better off just staying quiet, if that was the case. |
Very canned and rehearsed. Lots of talk about what “may have happened” and how “it can’t take all of our time” |
That was such a stupid comment he made. Essentially, "This might be OK, but if it isn't, we'll examine the carnage afterwards." It would be like the National Zoo putting out a statement that they are going to try re-housing their lions into the gazelle enclosure and hope for the best, and if all the gazelles get eaten then they'll think about whether they should have put the lions in there. I can only imagine how crooked he'd become in Congress if he's already doing this now. MCEA's response has also been toothless and worthless and (not for the first time) I'm questioning where the ridiculous amount of money going out of my paycheck every 2 weeks to them is actually going. I'm not anti-union but they never seem to do anything, ever, besides whine about how little power they have, and surely they could be feckless for cheaper. I didn't even watch McKnight's video because as soon as it popped into my inbox I just groaned loudly and knew it would be a bunch of empty words while they circle the wagons and shut people down and do stupid chants in leadership training. Also that somebody on DCUM would probably pre-screen it for us anyway. Expectations met. |
Get it started. No time like the present. |
| The teacher who said she wouldn’t talk to Jackson Lewis is making a smart move. |
| I muted the video and just read subtitles. I knew her tone would just get under my skin too much. -a teacher |

Does anybody have a copy of the letter that McKnight sent to Paint Branch, as mentioned in this article? I know the Farquhar one is in this thread & available online. |
| Also, I love how she's trying to spin her way out of the situation by spending half the video's duration focused on what's to come and making broad platitudes. |
| Did ... did she just say towards the end that colleagues will refer to MCPS as "a family"? The most toxic, CYA statement in all of corporate America; the statement we all know is absolutely untrue? Fire her NOW. That's just not what people want to hear. I don't know about y'all, but in my family, we don't sexually harass others, let alone not handle 18 complaints. At work, you're a team. None of those people share my last name or anything about me. Seeing that was all I've needed to make my conclusion: that she won't handle it properly. |
I thought that was tacky as well. If she wanted to address the elephant in the room, the video should have only been about the Beidleman scandal and nothing else. The message about excitement about Back to School should have been miles away from this sh*tshow. |
They're referring to the system as a "family" because they're being forced to on camera. C'mon now, let's get real. |
Correct. Put all that in the welcome video you mentioned. She knew people are only going to watch the beginning, middle, and end - not the whole thing all the way through - so she strategically placed the response in a lesser-seen part of the video. Total idiots on the comms team. |
| Why was she smiling so much? |
Cause her eyebrows are missing. |
| Teachers union should be out front. If it is not, it has a problem too. |
