In this case, mostly twice in a lifetime— if the monarchy holds.

Then what will Harry and Meghan do? Their only currency is association with the royal family.

Even if they are disowned and cut off from the family, they are still part of it. You can’t change the circumstances of your birth. It wouldn’t make one jot of difference.

Yes but attending would bring more media interest which can bring more business deals.

There will be plenty of media attention if they don't attend, also.

Not as much. Their popularity graph has been going down lately. They need an opportunity for pictures and stories to move it upwards.

I don’t understand why they are so harshly criticized
There seems to be a massive press campaign against them.
PH hasn’t said anything that bad about the family, everyone knows that the press and media are used to influence and control the masses.

Some people took Meghan in dislike because she comes across as inauthentic, others because they're racist. Some Brits didn't like her because she's very American and had some stumbles and faux pas. All of this would have passed in time.

When they moved to Canada and then California, they gained some support and lost a lot of support, in England and America and worldwide.

Yes, the intense media campaign against them is unprecedented in history
My guess is that the palace needed to protect Andrew, and they learned from Diana that a wife must never outshine. Kate was groomed for her role for years and is the kind of a woman who is happy to be her man’s shadow.
Harry was always more popular than William, which is most likely why the palace has leaked stories about him to the press.

I was not at all surprised that Harry had enough and left, it is a pity because he was really the piece that was interesting. They are fabulous together, which is why the palace started to leak bad press about them

I think they are very brave. The monarchy sucks, we all know that

I don’t think they’re brave. They come across a spoiled and immature. There was no press campaign against them I think until the Oprah interview where they accused their relatives of being racist for wondering about the skin color of their baby. They also told lies during that interview - like that the queen was going to take Archie’s title away. Before that interview she was roasted about as much as fergie was. Anyone who thinks her bad press was “unprecedented” hasn’t been paying attn to the royals for very long.

As a side note what was Harry trying to do by foisting partial responsibility for his nazi costume on will and Kate? That part of the book seemed so spiteful and childish.

Anyone who doesn’t think that the bad press was “unprecedented “ hasn’t been paying attention to racism for very long.
I would do some examples, but I’d rather not repeat them. This is a Google is your friend thing. The tabloids were awful and, I’m told that the comment sections were even worse. The problematic press attention started when they were dating, well before they got married, and then intensified.

My prediction is that Harry and Meghan will attend the coronation. Seriously, what else are they doing? This event will give them the opportunity to look fabulous and stoic about their imposed situation.

Why shouldn’t they?
They have been invited, Charles is Harry’s father
Based on the book it sounds like he has a warm relationship with his kids, despite sending them off to boarding school and doing parenting part time. He even admits that he should have gotten Harry some help sooner. The book is a good reminder that boarding school is an institution that doesn’t love your child. Even a place like Eton with all it’s resources couldn’t do a thing for to address why some kids were performing poorly

The fear about them attending the coronation is not that they are hated by the family, more the billion dollar hate tabloids that will follow.

I agree that the family wondering about the baby’s skin color in the context of the royal family is offensive. Never would I have thought anyone from the family would abscond, sad that it came to this. The RF started leaking the stories and the press couldn’t stop once it found out that this stuff sells.
RF should have done something to help them

I don’t think they’ll go. The book isn’t about Harry feeling any sense of loss from leaving the circus of high profile events. He conveys a sense of loss about his family always choosing the circus over each other and a loss over some of the charities that he connected with while in the role. The coronation is the circus on steroids. His therapists will be advising to reconsider going as going would just propagate the toxic relationships.

The British media has been at full steam running negative stories about them. They have also been downplaying how protesters are showing up every time Charles and Camilla go somewhere. Harry and Megan will again be the distraction to help Charles and Camilla in the PR area. The tabloids will run stories about how Harry and Megan are hated and gleefully blow up any real or not real slights while downplaying issues with his parents. It’s just the same old thing.

He may go out of concern that his father would never forgive him but it would be a mistake. Harry may need to come to the realization that he can never just have a normal relationship with his father or brother.

I wonder what their birth families think of their behavior. It would be interesting if an intervention is arranged where they sat with Charles, Camilla, Thomas, Doria, William, Thomas Jr and Samantha and everyone got a chance to voice their issues.

Did she ever live with Thomas Jr or Samatha for any length of time? I’m not sure what they bring to the table - same for Camilla.

Harry did suggest meeting with a mediator to Charles and maybe William. They weren’t having it —despite William’s supposed involvement with Heads Together.

Putting the group that you’ve listed together would be a hot mess. It includes two people long-divorced, multiple people who have been publicly abusive towards others on your list, several people who have never met each other, and at least one person who may be influential, but who in no way is part of anyone’s “birth family”. Is there a reason you chose to include Camilla but not Kate?

I would imagine that Doria has probably talked a lot with Meghan and Harry. I can’t imagine Doria wanting to interact with anyone else on your list without a very good reason.

I wonder why you’ve chosen to focus an intervention on “their behavior” when there’s been a lot of flagrantly problematic behavior displayed by several people on your list — and that’s just the stuff that’s publicly known.

Nothing is “publicly known.” Harry is an unreliable narrator. He even admits his memory is shoddy. I don’t believe any of his accusations. And as for feeding the press, didn’t Megan admit in court to feeding people magazine with stories from her “friends”? They’re hypocrites.

Interestingly, William spoke out publicly against racism regarding an incident during a soccer game.
He was called a hypocrite in one newspaper, since he ignored it when his sister in law was the target

Of course, because people complain about everything. But the BRF motto is Never Complain - so he wasn't going to speak out for his SIL. Until he did, when Kensington made an unprecedented request for the tabloids to knock it off wrt Meghan.
